Wear your masks in drive thru's people. You're still not 6 feet from another person. Especially not when we have to hand out your items. 6 feet doesn't just apply to how close your face is to another person. If you cough, sneeze, or just breathe on a drive thru attendant you're still putting them at risk. We wear masks and gloves for your safety. But if you don't wear your mask through the drive through you're still putting US at risk. I've worked at a Tim Horton's through this entire pandemic and TWO of my regular customers wear a mask. TWO people out of the up to 140 cars I see a night wear a mask. Day shift also only sees only one or two customers with masks on through the drive thru. Why its not been made mandatory to wear your mask during drive thru interactions is beyond me. Its mandatory in store where you ARE 6 feet from the cashier. Wear your masks, its just a few minutes, and it helps protect you and other people. Don't be selfish and lazy. Its not that hard.

I wear my mask everytime I outside around people. For my safety and yours.

You know what bothered me?? I went to pickup a to go order from a restaurant and they had outdoor dining... server (wearing gloves) bussed a dirty table and then brought out someone’s dinner.. with the same damn gloves.

Anytime I come in contact with anyone I wear a mask and that includes the drive thru.

Do your drive thru actually hand the items? Tim Hortons here has special trays they put your stuff on the tray and stick it out for you to grab the items. They also have a plastic divider so there isn’t any way you could sneeze on the attendant unless you were purposely trying to.

We do, but when youve got contact with the trays you could still pass the virus to other customers and even possibly the employees via the tray. Most customers feel the need to grab the tray to steady it, and it also comes close to their faves because of the height gap so they also breathe diractly on it, especially when they lean towards it to grab their items. Our hands also leave the protective divider when we hold the tray out, especislly if you aren't pulling up close enough to the window(wich most people dont pull close enough) and we have to stretch to give you the items so it is still possible to sneeze or cough on an attendants hand or arm. The divider is to protect you from us more than it is to protect us from you. Lots of people also smoke while going through a drive thru and blow the smoke directly towards the window, which is another way customers could spread illness to our employees since they're blowing their breathe towards us and our equipment. If the customers wore masks wed be a lot safer than if it were just the employees wearing them. Our average for the time that a customer spends at the window is between 45 and 65 seconds. Its not much to ask for someone to wear a mask for less than two minutes to keep us safe since we do what necessary to keep our customers safe.

I absolutely agree. We are not eating out or using drive thrus right now but masks should completely be mandatory for the safety of you workers. People don’t even consider that masks are to protect others from you.

@momtoboys1516 youre still interacting with our equipment, you could still pass illness on to another customer because youve breathed on, sneezed on, or even coughed on the equipment. It isnt just about the employees, its safer for the customer behind you as well.

Agree. Anywhere that you need to be close enough to someone for them to hand you something, it should be obvious that a mask needs to be worn. I protect you, you protect me

I always wear a mask in the drive through! Just because I’m in a car doesn’t mean I’m 6’ away from the person handing me my coffee, meds, etc. It’s important that we do our part to protect others!

I also won’t go to a drive thru where the employees aren’t wearing masks. Ick.

Good point. We wear it when we get meds at CVS drive thru (no other place of drive thru we go to).

I wish you could place a sign somewhere to wear one for order pick up.

I wear one everywhere. If im going to be interacting with another person i put it on. I wish we could put a sign up, but because its not been made mandatory per state law that you need to wear a mask in drive thru interactions, I dont think anyone would actually do it.

Dad responds back with No it’s okay you don’t have to wear a mask if people don’t like it then then they don’t need to come in and shop they can stay at home or they can do store pick up. Omg I rolled my eyes so bad like dude your ass can do that also if you don’t want to follow mandatory mask guidelines you douche bag. So annoying. And this is why I hate people lol.
