Has anyone had a baby that was near term but still had to spend time in the NICU? I have a question! Was it a requirement that your baby ate from a bottle every single feeding. They are wanting her to wake up every 3 hours and feed from a bottle . I feel this is unrealistic babies dont so that naturally. I requested for the doctor to call me to ask. Shes 9 days old and doing amazing. They were mainly concerned with some fluid on the lungs and that cleared up quickly. When I get to visit she eats and is alert with no issues.

Oh man :( she's medical cleared on all counts. Her lungs are cleared , her sugars are perfect, shes having plenty of wet and dry diapers. She has to be 100 percent on the bottle for 24 hours so I can take her home. She didn't wake up for one of her bottles last night :( she been in there for 9 days . I need her home

Same as fairy. Blood sugar issues. She would keep doing great then have 1 low blood sugar and we’d have to start all over again. Bottle feed every 3 hours to bring up her sugar. We finally left after five days. She was born a day before her due date.

I had my son at 38 weeks. He was almost 10lbs due to my diabetes and our blood sugars dropped together after he was born. One nurse wouldn’t let me touch my child at all. I got the ombudsman involved. Then they said bottle every 2 hours if he won’t latch. However formula wasn’t bringing up his blood sugar. Umm this is my first kid and your ideas aren’t working so someone needs to help me figure out breast feeding. Found the best nurse in the unit to help me and he finally latched and next thing you know he’s in out of NICU and in my arms.

I was 39w and 5d and my daughter was in the NICU for a month. She had a really hard time transitioning to bottle because she had been on a feeding tube for over a week. But she had to be feeding from a bottle before we left, her jaundice had to be a certain level, and her oxygen had to be a certain level. She had fluid in the lungs as well.

I had my son at 38 weeks. He also had some fluid around the lungs. He was in the nicu for 8 days. The first 4 days he had a feeding tube they fed through every 3 hours after that I breast fed every 3 hours. It was there requirement. They called me in every 3 hours at night to feed (I stayed in the hospital the whole 8 days)

I had my oldest son at 36 weeks exactly and he also had to go to the NICU for a week, but yes, the feedings every 4 hours was a thing when he was there.

My baby was 6 weeks early and that was still their requirement before she could come home. Even though she did fantastic at breastfeeding.
