HELP !! I’m trying not to freak out but I’ve never went through this before .So I went in for my sono today as I’m am 31 weeks and high risk this is the 1st time that we’ve seen my sons face because he’s usually covering it . They told me that they see a small cleft in his lip well they’re not 100 percent sure but they think so. So I have to go every week for a sono because my pressure but they’re also going to be monitoring his cleft if there’s one . So for the mommies who experienced this or someone who personally know a baby with one . Is this what it looks like I know some can be small and some can be very extreme but do you guys see a cleft in my babies lip as well ??

I do TOTALLY understand why you're upset though girl. ABSOLUTELY. I didn't want my previous comment to come off as me dismissing your feelings about it. I truly think everything will be ok Mama, don't stress.

There is a little TINY line kinda from his nose to his mouth. His lips and nose look to be perfectly formed little baby lips and nose. IF it's there it's VERY VERY slight. In the first pic it's not even noticeable. I had to zoom in to see it on the second one. It very well could be a weird shadow or somethin. TRY not to freak Mama and relax. Even if it were terrible, it's TOTALLY fixable!

It does look like a cleft lip, but slightly. If it is, I hope the palate isn't also a cleft, it gets really tricky with a cleft palate, and a little stressful. I've never been in the situation, but I've heard people talk

@l.yesi, I cried so much that I didn’t have any pics of my pregnancy. The journey is tough but our babies are amazingly strong..

Hey momma. I have 4 girls. My 3rd princess was born with a cleft lip and Cleft palate. Pregnancy was considered high risk due to her cleft. Thankfully I had a safe pregnancy and labor. They took her to the nicu to observe her feeding. We used a Dr.Brown specialty bottle.

Thank you! Yes, he’s doing great now! With clefts, sometimes they need revisions done when they get older as well but I’m not sure what it would be like for a minor one.

They set it up so I could meet with the surgeon and cleft team prior to delivering so I could get all my questions answered.

There’s also some great cleft Facebook groups that have been very helpful and supportive as well.

@flamingfiremom, yea they said that too they said if there is one it’s very small . So I’ll see next week if it looks the same . I know it can be fixed and all but I’m just sooo freaked out because this pregnancy has been stressful with me being high risk and me having to have my 4th c-section and just last year when I had my daughter they told me don’t have any more because of all the scarring it was very hard for them and it was hard recovery I ended up staying for 6 days and 2 blood transfusions. So I’m worrying about doing it all again and being fine and now this . It’s so crazy how you can love someone so much you haven’t even met yet

It did affect his feeding. But mostly because his palate was involved. I know of many moms with cleft lip babies that were able to breast feed! It becomes more challenging when the palate is involved.

His lip repair was his easiest surgery. He had 3 surgeries his first year. I can’t imagine it being too bad with it looking so minor. Every state is different but they typically do the lip repair 3-6 months. The first week post-op was a little rough but he really improved quickly from that surgery.

It looks like it could be a slight cleft. My son was born with a pretty severe cleft lip and palate. He’s 18 months now and has had it repaired.

It looks like a very slight cleft but it could also just be his face squished against something and making his lip look that way ..
