Crazy. I just got a message that the digital learning for my sons school is counting people as absent if they don’t complete the work for the day. Most parents are still having problems accessing the app or assignments for it, so after the school said don’t worry about it all week while everyone is still trying to figure out how to use the app and it’s programs, the school said last week don’t worry nobodies kids will lose points or get in trouble. Now they are counting it as absences. I hope they didn’t already count absences for it and I hope that they don’t send cps to a bunch families because god forbid if some families don’t have access to tables or computes. They count a few absences as having an investigation already. God forbid the apps don’t work for most parents when they do have access. I see cps probably still operates to get money by every kid they can steal instead of actually helping kids with a real serious problem like that 7 year old kid named Adrian who was abused and killed when cps had proof but didn’t do anything about it. 🧐 I don’t like that. I don’t trust the school then or cps. What do they get a bonus fat check for doing stuff like this instead of helping kids with real problems who need it? Weird...

States are requiring schools and districts to track attendance for funding purposes. I doubt that a school will report anyone to CPS for being absent during these times. The schools are just jumping through the hoops that the state is putting in place.

@ekko, oh ok I hope that’s what it is. That would be messed up on the school if they do that.

@raisinglittlegamers, I hope they stopped it here as well. That wouldn’t be fair on the families trying to make the digital school work.

Our school is doing the same thing
Not completed by 9 pm they are absent. My daughter does all hers on Google classroom.
Internet providers here are giving free internet to make sure everything child has it for school. They are also "renting out" the school Chromebooks.

I'm glad it's spring break though this week

Idk about where you are but our state stopped home visits for CPS until this is over 😡😡😡😡

@ss3mom, I hope so. It’s just scary to think about because for the first few days my son wasn’t able to complete some of the assignments on there. I would hope that they won’t do that to anyone. Especially at this time when we have to be careful with this virus.

I think it’s something like 7 unexcused absences or something like that but I may be wrong. I don’t think they could count any of these days against the kids or parents right now. This is unprecedented times and I don’t think anyone knows how to navigate this right now. We were just told by my sons 1st grade teacher that she can see how much time he’s spends on a app or site and we have to do required work everyday or he will be considered absent. Some parents can’t access the sites right now but I don’t think they will be held against the parents if they are in contact with teacher ya know?

I forgot how many absences you need to have in order for them to investigate and claim “neglect “ but I believe it’s close to 10 before they do a report. 🤦🏻‍♀️ So god forbid people can’t access the app or their kid is sick with the virus. A quick way for them to make money harassing I guess...
