These 5 kids are my life. They are everything to me. I want to protect them and keep them safe every way I possibly can. #AD #sponsored Just as I tell them to wear a helmet while riding a bike and lock the doors when I’m not at home with them, the same goes when they’re online. Online safety is a BIG deal for me as a parent and as a digital influencer.

.

We just celebrated Safer Internet Day this week and it’s the PERFECT time for parents everywhere to have those important and necessary tech talks with their kids. Our kids are growing up in a different way than we were, they have the internet (a new world) at their fingertips and we need them to be prepared for the good and the bad. To get you started with your #thetechtalk, Google has their Be Internet Awesome program that has resources available to help guide your talk with your family. I love how they have are making it just that much easier to start these conversations.

.

A TIP for your family’s Tech Talk is to be knowledge and share that you have the ability to download the Family Link app from Google and the YouTube Kids app. Both offer a variety of parental controls to help ensure that you’re able to create the experience that’s right for your family online. .

Other TIPS that I think are equally as important to discuss with our kids:

* Discuss what makes content (websites, videos, apps, YouTube channels) age appropriate and what your potential concerns are for browsing without limits. * Discuss the importance of creating boundaries around tech to enhance their own digital wellbeing. * Discuss why it’s important to be disconnected before bed.

We’re all in this together, so let’s make sure we’re doing everything we can to make the Internet the safest place it can be for our kids. Thank you Google for doing everything you CAN to make this happen. Have you had the tech talk with your kids? #BeInternetAwesome #SaferInternetDay

You can be racist towards the race of your kids. Your racism doesn't just stop being racism because 'X' is said race. Racism is Racism. Thanks for coming to this very well needed TedTalk.
