How do you and your partner split household bills? Does one person pay everything? Or do you guys split it half and half?

:)

My partner and I both work full time jobs and our paychecks go into a joint account. All of our family expenses come out of that account (our main one).

But we each still have our own bank accounts from before we met and we each have our own personal credit cards.

I like it this way, before we had our first baby we did everything separate but I found things were getting really difficult especially since he made more than me and it was getting awkward having to ask him to give me his card or transfer money to me when I needed to grocery shop or buy clothes for the baby.

@mamaof2soon, worked out great. We technically had a joint account but separate so we still had our own money. If one of us was short the other covered.

To all ladies who have a joint account I’m terrified out that being my/our only account because what if we get scammed all our money is somewhat gone then :(

I know it’s covered by banks but just the thought

We both work, but my husband makes more than twice what I do and has more career growth potential. But we’ve never kept tabs on who is paying for what. I do more of the kid stuff, pay all the bills on time, deal with house issues, buy groceries, and most of the cooking on top of my 35 hour a week job. In his words, it’s our money because I work just as hard as he does supporting our family which is what enables him to have a demanding career and work 60+ hours with travel.

We have a joint account. We usually talk about paying unnecessary stuff.

I worked and saved a ton before becoming a sahm. I currently work about ten hours a week so I have a tiny income ( gets quickly used at Target lol). My husband pays the bills but I usually handle my own gas, car payment, and I pay for entertainment for our daughter and gifts for family for my savings account. If he needs money for something or tells me to cut back on spending I just do it.

My husband and I had this discussion before we even moved in together four years ago. Definitely figure it out sooner than later. Finances are tough on a relationship when the spending and saving aren't clear

I'm a sahm. We have a joint checking and savings account. He makes the money and I'm the one that handles billing and transfering of money.

He makes more so he pays the majority of the bills. I pay half the rent and one of our credit cards.

I’m a SAHM, but I also have a few things going on to create income. We each have our own personal account but we have a joint one as well. We both contribute to the joint account as evenly and fairly as possible and that takes care of the house and family growth. We invest evenly and we contribute to our sons special needs trust the same way. Everything is on auto pay. What we have left after all of that is for us to choose what to do with. That way we each handle business as required but we also have a little freedom. Example: I don’t want my husband to know about his gifts so I use my personal money to get it so I can actually surprise him. Can’t do that when you completely share finances...

Currently a stay at home mom but even when working we share an account and bills come out of that. I am the one who goes online to pay them but we both have cards from the same account that we use for all expenses. We discuss big purchases with each other beforehand.

@mamaof2soon if you're moving to be in a relationship keep a job at the beginning so you have something to fall back on. I moved out and got married when I was 20 to my ex husband who was in the Navy. I kept a small part time job that entire time. I saw so many young women with kids that relied too much on their husbands and bf and were shit out of luck when their man was over them. Don't be that woman. If you're moving to be with him just have a way out just in case.

@massgirl, oh no definitely not

My mom is moving to atl which was my plan to love there but kids dad wants to move to Texas and wants me go there as well but like I told him there’s not Job for me there or no family

I rather go where there’s support so I told him he can buy the house in Atl and I’ll pay the other bills because he makes more

We have joint checking, so we don’t really distinguish between who made what money. But he makes a lot more than I do, so I guess you can probably say he pays majority of them.

@mamaof2soon, We have everything on automatic payments, so the bills just come out when due. Otherwise, nothing would ever get paid lol I forget too much.

@chelseaz, oh ok I see

Since y’all have joint checking does one ask the other if they can spend over a certain amount ?

Нравится Ответить
chelseaz
Chels Z·Многодетная мама (5 детей)

@mamaof2soon, no, not really. I mean we make big decisions together. We also each have a separate “fun”’money bank account and we each get $300 a month put in to them from our joint checking. That money is meant to be spent on ourselves. That way it’s fair and nobody feels like the other has more control.

Bakers!

When making bread do you HAVE let it double before you punch it down and split it?

rayofmysunshine Ok about the bread...... how cool does it have to be to slice it???
babybump_user I always cut it still warm but not hot, that's when it tastes the best anyway
babybump_user We let it cool enough to eat then cut it.

What do YOU judge

Clearly, no one is a perfect parent nor do we know everything. But what’s something you judge a parent off of or just irks you?

babybump_user I have older children and working on baby #4 maybe I should have clarified the age group
