I was wondering if there’s anyone on here with any autistic children? I’m completely convinced Harrison is autistic and I’ve known since he was a few months old that he’s quite different from other children. Our health visitor is coming next week finally for his year review after cancelling on us so many times. I’m concerned that she might just brush it all off and not take me seriously. I have a list of different things I’ve noticed about him and was wondering what signs you seen in your child at this age? You can private message me if you don’t feel comfortable commenting. Hi 😊 my daughter ava has serve autism, she got diagnosed when she was 2. She got referred from the health visitor as she wasn't developing normally for her age. She never crawled just bum shuffled for ages and didn't walk until she was 2 and a half. She never spoke she said mummy and daddy and then suddenly stopped. She couldn't keep eye contact with anyone, she didn't want to be near anyone apart from me, basically she got assessed from a pediatrician and they said first time seeing her that they were 99% sure she was autistic. They did more tests and finally got diagnosed. We had to do a blood test ( me , dad and ava) and found out she had a developmental delay and had missing chromosomes too. If you think your child has autism definitely see someone as the sooner they get diagnosed the more help you and your child will get 😊 x
They should take you seriously at his review. My cousins little boy just turned three and he was diagnosed before he was two and she said she knew it from about 8weeks.
I really hope she does take us seriously. It’s not just myself either. My partner thinks he has autism, so does his mum and so does my mum! xx
@kathleenc, I work with health visitors as a support nurse and have to go out and do initial assessments. We always try to get it before the child turns 2 so we can get them into a child development centre. As they have specialists there from all the different areas so we don’t have to refer to five areas and parents only have to attend there all assessments done and better adjustments to nursery and school

So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing.
