I just realized I never told my birth story with Maisy!

I was scheduled for a planned c section on December 6th (Friday). I had been feeling uncomfortable but no contractions or anything. I went to bed on the 3rd and everything was fine. I woke up at 2am to use the bathroom and then went back to bed. Woke up at 230am to a pop and immediately jumped out of bed and to the bathroom. I was pretty sure it was my water but wasn’t completely sure because it wasn’t a lot. I ended up waking up rob and telling him what was going on. We waited another 10 mins until I felt another gush and was sure. I called my mom and asked her to come over to stay with Maddox so we could go to the hospital. She said no and asked me to bring Maddox to her which was 20 mins out of our way 🙄🙄. After dropping him off we had an hour drive to the hospital. When we finally made it there it was around 430am. They hooked me up to the monitor and tested the fluid to confirm it was my water and it was. I was also having small contractions which I couldn’t feel. I was in triage for a while until my doctor came to see me around 730am.

The OR was really busy so he told me I would for sure be having my c section that day he just didn’t know what time. They then moved me into a room. I was having contractions that were bearable the whole time. Finally at 12pm they came to get me for my section. I told my doctor we didn’t know the gender and rob wanted to be the one to announce it. They took me in first while rob waited in the hall to give me the spinal. That was awful because she had to keep trying for like half an hour to get it. Finally she did and rob was allowed back in. Lots of pressure the whole time. Then rob was allowed to stand up and look over the curtain. Nothing will ever compare to the moment he said “it’s a girl!” Then rob got to go over and cut the cord and then Maisy was put on me for skin to skin. After a few mins of holding her rob took her with him to the recovery room while they finished my surgery. When I was brought in he was doing skin to skin with her. I was immediately able to take her and she breastfed. They only kept me in recovery for about 45 mins because the numbness was wearing off quickly. We spent the next 2 days there and were finally discharged on the 6th.
