I dont understand why some people let their toddlers still drink from baby bottles? Proper baby bottles? Just rounds off and knackers their teeth so younger years teeth ruined for sake of not making sure they use a more age suited cup / beaker ect. Or is it just me

@7littlegems yes my son always punched himself in face from maybe 5 to 8ish aswell as bite side of his hand. Hes massively underweight and pale as a ghost as anemic and low iron also. He also only eats rice and brocoli. He also never slept when was younger and was on sleeping tablets as through day on retalin as said he also had adhd. and you said the 70% stuff after that comment. All this doesnt is completely irrelevant however. It wasnt obviously aimed at disabled kids. But autism isnt something that stops the child been introduced and weaned off a bottle. As while young they can still adjust!

My eldest daughter had a bottle for bed until she was almost 3, and my youngest doesn't have one now as she went off them herself.

I'm more concerned about Dummies due to personal experience with my teeth.

If I see a post etc about this subject I will try my best to advise etc, let them know the possible risks (some people actually aren't aware) but what they do with that information is upto them, there is never any need to write a judgy post, if the post is aimed at someone why not give the person a message or speak in person? Just tell them there is a risk to do with teeth (decay with milk in a bottle before bed, teeth positioning is a dummy and thumb sucking issue) and just be kind.

A vague post is never really helpful.

The main thing to remember though, is we all parent differently. :)

(unless you're gonna put your child in actual serious danger, then yes, it's a concern 🙃)

Just to reconfirm the post wasnt aimed at anyone on here! It genuinely wasnt but like i say i wish it had been now. I dont come on here until every blue moon and so dont get to know people and what theyre like - very touchy now i see.

Cannot wait for the next judgy post i see but no one bat an eyelid cause it wont be this 'outsider' 😂😂

My god.

Bottles for nearly 4 yr olds arent right. Health visitors and dentists will tell you same.sake of getting your act together to help them in long run.

Last i'll comment on this now its boring.

So judgemental without knowing facts... my son looks 'normal and 'healthy' but we already know he will have a bottle and a dummy maybe until he's 5 or older.. the dummy helps him breath during his sleep and the bottle is the only thing he can safely drink from... he recently had a sickness bug and will now only drink chocolate milk or blackcurrant juice everything else he is sick on... he's under dietician who is happy with this, his teeth are fine although with or without a dummy he will get an overbite due to the shape of his palate (it was like that at birth before he had a bottle or dummy)... one of his conditions is called laryngomalcia and is the most common cause of airway and feeding difficulties in infants... but if I didn't tell you then you wouldn't know along with the thousands of other children... So if these children at age 3+ are drinking from a bottle then good... at least they are drinking, if they have a dummy then at least they're breathing... we don't know everyone's circumstance so we shouldn't judge anyone... in sure there has been aspects of your parenting that someone has judge you for (having shoes on a tiny baby, not having mittens on, getting abit short with them when you're running around doing everything but they still need more from you) if everyone judged less and supported more the world would be a much nicer place x

I do know the facts. The mums a lazy cow and cannot be arsed with the kid or the hassle and noise caused by trying to take it away.

I stand by the statement but thank you for the comment i was waiting for a disability comment to come up in order for trying to make me feel somewhat bad. But lets face it as much as pissed people off cause theyre all in this sad bastard little circle where spend all day on here talking to only mates theyve got (user names) that i wasnt including disable kids. Again though its great to hear your opinion.

How boring we would all be if all thought the same 🙃

@terrig I doubt you know the facts... my neighbours don't know my son's conditions, and yes he makes noise because he's a child and that's what they do to communicate, if a child makes a noise and the parent settles them then clearly the parent isn't lazy.. and as for the sad bastard circle of friends I barely come on this site but when I do I can chat with everyone..

@sarah-bradshaw what are you on about? I dont know your sons conditions and so not sure where you are piping off from.

And i do know the facts as social are always at mine, next doors and the house to opposite side. The mothers a lazy twat and doesnt look after either of the three kids. She leaves them in garden until nearly 10 each night until her guests have gone. Or leaves them with old bloke next door stating shes to go on an emergency or what not (blokes 82) shes lazy and doesnt make the kids a priority. She also has her ex shouting outside every other night that shes ligged drugs on under his name. The girls teeth look like theyve been chipped with a chisel to make a perfect half moon shape and the post was to give my opinion that for sake of been lazy your ruing your kids teeth. The teeth theyll have in little school until what middle of primary, making them target for bullies possibly.

Id you are going to say your childs a disability or what ever else you mean by conditions then the post wasnt aimed at this audience. It was aimed at lazy parenting! Which is 90% of the people with these older toddlers still drinking pop from a teat.

Jees what did I miss here?! 😂 Every parent is different but every parent is allowed an opinion. Sure there are kids out there that still have bottles when they're 4.. but it's not mine so I couldn't care. Mine were both given a sippy cup at 6 months and off bottles at 12 months and had a 360 cup. My cousins son was nearly 4 and still had a bottle with juice. I asked my cousin why does he still have a bottle? And he told me because he likes it and they can't get it off him. Not long after he basically told him no you can't have it and he changed to a sports bottle type straight away. His daughter is 2 and they tried taking dummy off her but then she drank loads of water/juice so they gave her the dummy back?! I was like why lol just keep the bottle out if sight and then she won't want to suck it to replace the dummy. But no they've kept her with the dummy.. each to their own xx

I don't think this is is a fair comment especially if you don't know the child. My oldest took ages to get off the bottle at night, he has learning difficulties, so is obviously developmentally delayed. His teeth are perfect!

@terrig, but knowing full well it probably would rub some people up the wrong way because it’s not like kids all automatically come off a bottle at a certain age, some it’s a lot harder than others but whatever ineh

@mummyto2tinyhumans no kid automatically comes off a bottle their tippie cup trained and gradually progress ect. Health visitors say to move them onto free flow tippie cups from 12months and then the 360 no spills and so on..its down to parent to introduce them and move them on - not just continue to give them a baby bottle at 3.5 maybe 4yr old day and night cause easier or whatever. No it sometimes isnt easy to take it away but whens motherhood ever been easy? Everydays a struggle - getting a bottle off a now young child be hell as more aware. A baby can adjust. Making more work for themselves and permanently damaging childs first set if teeth.

Thats end of it. Like i say ill make sure any further posts are ones which wont require readers to have to wind there necks back in.

So yeah if you want to believe was about her then go ahead. And no neither kid next door one or this lasses child is mine but as a parent surely want best for your kids? And the teeth are rounded. All cause parent cant be arsed cause 'cant cope with her crying' when she herself is tired. As above i dont mince my words if it was about her id of said when she commented! But she was on that status within a second so yes maybe she needs to spend less time on here and more on kids! Getting a bottle or dummy off them is what? worse case a week of crying and carrying on. Its tough love. But let her take the comment as aimed at her. - the shoe obviously did fit. Before blocked me had a look at profile and bottle pictured quite often through day and evening.

So thats the end of that little lead balloon. 🥴 x

@terrig, also it’s not bottles that cause the rounding of front teeth, it’s caused by dummies or thumb sucking. A bottle isn’t in the mouth long enough whereas dummies and thumbs are. It’s no different to drinking from a sports bottle. The problem with bottles is taking them to bed with juice or milk which then sits on the teeth (after they’ve been brushed) causing tooth decay

I am talking bout kids thats started school yet still using a baby bottle with a teat. And rounding kids front two teeth off for sake of what i can only presume is laziness or to keep peace with the child.

@terrig, whoa calm down. I wasn’t having a go! I was just saying my toddler does and it hasn’t effected her teeth.

I wouldn’t say it’s laziness. It’s probably comfort. 3 years old is a tricky age, most start nursery at that age which literally turns their little worlds upside down. A little comfort won’t hurt.
