Today, like everyday, my children came home and tell me the highlights of their day. They had their Christmas party so I assumed that would be number one. But instead, she walked me through what they do if a “mean person” came in the building. It was their school shooter drill. THAT is my child’s number one highlight and memory of her last day before winter break. Not her Christmas party. Not all the fancy things she made & fun she had. I never even had that drill in my entire life. She taught me. My 7 year old walked me through a school shooter situation. My heart hurts.
This is a problem. And if you can’t see that, maybe you’re part of the problem. This isn’t normal and shouldn’t become normal. I don’t really know what the answer is or solutions to this problem. But I do know it IS a problem. And a BIG one.

In this case I think it was poor planning on the schools part. It should have been a fun day... and why right before break when some kids are clocked out and not really paying attention

My 3 year olds school had a lockdown drill on Wednesday....... it’s a daycare/preschool...... it’s awful. I asked my husband if we could move to Denmark or Holland.

I agree with 👆🏼. That’s poor planning on the schools part. My daughter had hers earlier in the year and they emailed all the parents beforehand explaining what was going to happen. It gave me a chance to talk to her before.

They emailed us an hour after it happened. They aren’t supposed to inform before so it can’t be “planned around” I believe

Terrible planning ! No reason they should of done it all in one day. My guess is they were supposed to have done it already and forgot and it needed done before the end of the year with today being their last chance.
