My daughter still isn't in nursery and I know it benefits little ones a lot but is there anyone else who didn't put their children in nursery and went straight to reception at 4/5? If so how did that go for them?

My little boy isnt in nursery yet... hes 2 and a half, i try and make sure i do crafts... learning, taking him on lots of days out to keep him active and his mind growing constantly. We have lots of fun and hes growing perfect x

I wouldn’t advise it to be honest. Going to nursery at 3 builds the foundation for EYFS. It gets them used to an education environment. It will be incredibly daunting for a small child to start reception after having no experience of the setting.

I’d imagine it would be very hard for a child to go straight into reception without experiencing nursery. Is there a reason you don’t want her going? My daughter has been going since 2y2m and it’s been the best thing ever for her!

My youngest daughter didn't attend nursery. She went straight in to reception class. She's had no problems whatsoever and she is a popular child in her class. She's 7 now and has recently been nominated as the class buddy, for anyone who is having problems or feeling left out. Not going to nursery did her no harm whatsoever. She didn't even socialise with other children before reception class x

Obviously it's down to you what you do and nursery isn't mandatory but if you can put her in, i definitely would. Reception is completely different to nursery so it's not the same as their first day at nursery. Most reception class children have already established their friendships through the nursery and settle in much easier because they have the experience

My daughter is 3 and is in my care all the time. She will go to preschool or kindergarden( whichever me and my SO decide on) and she is incredably smart. She has no socializing issues. She loves kids and plays with kids she doesn't even know. I'm not worried.

@mommy1991 @jo.wilcox @kimpton28 @my2girls @mrsbodell @laurabump27 Thank you everyone for your replies! I think it would be absolutely great to be around other kids her age and getting use to that environment, my son went to nursery when he turned two and it was fine plus I think it would be great for her to be in nursery before the baby gets here so she doesn't feel like she is shipped of as the baby arrives but at the same time I get anxiety and when it comes to me actually getting her into the nursery I just don't like it all I panic and think if she will be upset or left out or think I've abandoned her, tbh think the only way to get over that is to bite the bullet and put her in, I know deep down once she's there I will feel a lot better about her going. ❤️
