Drove from California to Virginia that took 4 days lol. That’s not a one day trip you will get really tired and would have to stop at least once or twice overnight.
Think it’s all about timing better to be both well rested so before you leave both of you try to sleep well so you can take turns driving too, I personally would leave early am or in the middle of the night so all the kids will be sleepy enough to stay asleep. Yrs ago I drove from ny to Miami in 17 hrs barely stopped just for gas and had drinks and food packed in car too made before the trip helps too especially with kids in a car soo long bring things to keep them busy ,coloring books,certain toys they like and lots of Patience “long drives you still need to stretch your legs after driving ,they have apps can give u better routes toll or no tolls and you don’t know weather conditions until you begin to drive thru each city/state “safe travels “ for you and your family and occasionally check tires as you drive and stop too
Also my gps on my I phone is great it instantly gives me better routes shows if accidents on route too I drive to work tues-sat take me 1 hr 1 hr 30 min but if I leave at 635 am when I take my middle son to hs takes maybe 35 min or sat no. Traffic takes 25 min so timing is everything “you must be so excited new home new memories in your new state with your little family

@bill_nye_the_russian_spy, yeah keep using the gps before u go so you can see options probably each state too has better ways to get thru them
Either way it's probably about the same. I live in va and I don't think its bad unless your passing through DC other then that it's fine. I travel in the middle of the night mostly when I go places. That would be rough but you avoid alot of traffic that way.
My ex husband traveled through the Virginia DC area. There's ton of traffic through that area. One accident added 4 hours. Maybe travel from 10-3ish for two days so you don't hit traffic or you can travel from like 7pm-5am for two days that way the kids will be sleeping.
@bill_nye_the_russian_spy, looks like you will however hit a few toll roads so be prepared for those.
