So I go for the child support hearing and the father doesn’t show and then they say he filed papers just yesterday with his girlfriend which is a paralegal asking for visitation and parenting time they said he filed 5 things but could only tell me two and the two is parenting time & visitation yet I have all the proof of me contacting him through pregnancy with calls texts and voicemails and also even going to his apartment and knocking on his door yet no answer to anything , I’m so beyond stressed but I guess it’s time to find a lawyer considering he’s never met him and doesn’t need to be with him alone and doesn’t know how to care for a child and is a alcoholic and yet supposibly back on drugs 🤞 any advice ??

Hire a lawyer ,even if someone is an alcoholic or drug addict in past the courts deal with facts/proof drug testing by them if needed. My father and I were very close and so was he with my 2 sisters as well ,my mom was never motherly so I’m grateful for the amazing father I had ,If this man isn’t abusive to the child then yes he has a right to be in his child’s life but,I agree there s no such thing as parenting when a person feels like it has to have consistency show responsibility as well

Tell them u want supervised visits or nothing he can’t just start playing dad cuz some hoe is around smh 🤦🏽♀️ id say it how it is he’s never been in the picture and You can’t take the risk of him coming in and out of his life

@bigmama18, you don’t have to have a attitude to suggest things it also doesn’t look good that he’s never been around or ever tried that basically shows proof he has no interest and then these kids suffer because ppl don’t want to see the truth

@cheetahgurl420, the baby is 7 months. No matter what the courts will grant visits unless there is danger to the child. She should request supervised visits once a month and every other weekend. What the courts shoot for is 50-50 now a days. He needs to be given a chance to be a dad. If he can’t hold up the responsibility then adjustments can be made. Again request a drug test and go from there.

Nobody knows how to care for a child at first. You learn though and it's not a reason to not see your your child. Definitely request drug testing. Maybe ask for supervised visitation of you are that worried?

Not t knowing how to care for a child isn’t a reason not to see a child. However if you have proof of him being and alcoholic that is a reason. Also you can request drug tests. Give your lawyer all your information but if he isn’t going to harm or endanger the child the court will grant visitation.
