Антибиотики в лечении простуды

Антибиотики не лечат простуду, не снижают риск вторичных осложнений, но несут риски потенциальных нежелательных явлений и способствуют развитию резистентности бактерий к антибиотикам. Таким образом, пользы от антибиотиков при ОРВИ нет, есть только потенциальные риски.

Антигистаминные средства

Антигистаминные средства (димедрол, кларитин, супрастин, диазолин) в рандомизированных исследованиях не продемонстрировали свою эффективность ни относительно смягчения симптомов, ни в лечении простуды. Противокашлевые средства

Противокашлевые средства (как рецептурные (например, кодеинсодержащие средства), так и безрецептурные) не имеют доказанной эффективности в лечении простуды в общем и кашля при простуде в частности. А их токсический потенциал таков, что Американская академия педиатрии и FDA выпустили отдельные документы, призывающие воздержаться от применения данного класса средств в лечении простуды.

Отхаркивающие средства и муколитики

Отхаркивающие и муколитические средства (такие как бромгексин, мукалтин и проч) не имеют доказанной эффективности в лечении кашля, связанного с простудой у детей. Побочные эффекты этих препаратов включают бронхоспазм, желудочно-кишечные расстройства и лихорадку

Ароматерапия

В метаанализе витамин С в дозе 200 мг и более, назначаемый после появления симптомов простуды, не уменьшал длительность заболевания (результат семи исследований) и не влиял на тяжесть ОРВИ и его симптомов (четыре исследования). О серьезных побочных эффектах не сообщалось.

Цинк

Эффективность препаратов цинка в уменьшении продолжительности или тяжести простуды остается неясной при сохранении побочных эффектов, характерных для данных препаратов.

О попытках профилактики простуды

Многочисленные попытки подтвердить эффективность чего-либо в профилактике простуды, к сожалению, не увенчались успехом. Исследовались и эхинацея пурпурная, и чеснок, и витамин С, и пробиотики.
