Need serious answers: what is it I’m seeing on here that you can drink alcohol while breast feeding and it not have an effect on the child with out the pump and dump method?? Since when and why is it okay now ?

Have you done research as to what makes it safe now? There’s plenty of articles out there. It’s not about getting sloshed, it’s like a glass of wine here or there.

Not at all. I really want to hear it from the mothers on here who are ready to argue anything lol so the fact that I didn’t see a debate about this baffled me.
But I always do my research on things like this to create my own opinion.

Since they've done more studies on alcohol and the effect of breastmilk.
Plus there's more uses for breastmilk other than feeding so I'd never dump it anyways.
Like breastmilk baths for eczema.
Lip balm for chapped lips.
These are just 2 that I know of but I know there's more.

It doesn’t even really affect the milk it’s more about being able to hold baby safely from the way the lactation consultant explained it to me if you can drive you can breastfeed safely. Not enough of it gets into the milk to waste pumping and dumping. They’ve done more studies so they know more now then they used too.

I was curious about this myself cause I like a glass of wine or cider here and there but I don't get drunk. Course I haven't had a drink in about 3yrs so it may not take much for me lol

So a summary is moderate drinkers wait a couple of hours and then feed. Seems reasonable to me.

You can do it. And I did in moderation. It just affected my supply that I really stopped. From my memory there’s a time limit between when you imbibe and your next breastfeeding session...

Your body filters the alcohol out of the breast milk over time just the same way it filters it out of your blood over time.
