Well this is embarrassing but this is the first time I’ve had a abnormal Pap smear & tested positive for hpv and I’m freaking out being pregnant & just don’t understand it at all 😭🤢🤮 has anyone else had this happen during pregnancy? Can it make you sick ?
I’m scared, emotional, feel disgusted , & hurt 😢

I've had HPV. It was when I was in my early 20s. Its gone now, and I never had any treatment
@mrs.watkins4715 most of the time it does go away, but you just need to keep getting paps to keep an eye on it because sometimes it needs treatment. There's no reason to be ashamed, 1 in 3 people have HPV, or some insane number like that
@two.tiny.texans, I’m unsure when they can do another Pap smear and unsure of treatment through pregnancy they didn’t explain anything to me they acted like I was a disease and I was balling my eyes out and they didn’t explain nothing
I have. My dr told me it goes away for a lot of people after vaginal birth. I had my baby and was tested again and was still positive. I had a leep done in May and tested positive again after. I go in September for another procedure.
Hpv can be contracted a LOT of different ways.
Like @pottmouthed_stirredup said, it can be dormant and it can even just go away.
I had HPV but there are diff strains. Some strains lead to genital herpes. Other strains lead to cervical cancer. Usually an abnormal pap that tests positive for HPV means you have to go back for a cervical exam, OB paints your cervix w solution to show abnormal cell areas and then biopsies them to find out how bad the cells are. There’s a lot of steps in between. Just start educating yourself but try not to freak out.
I had low grade cancerous cells when I had my biopsies done, followed through w cryotherapy (they froze my cervix w nitrogen or something like that) and ever since, my paps have been clear about 14 years ago. I’ve had about 3 diff partners since then.
Yes I,agree but it.call cause warts not herpes. And I had hsil n mine vanished lol they said it can come be back worse. But my sons 18momths and it was normal when I was 6months pregnant and I'm good so far :)

@mrs.watkins4715 I'd just ask for a retest at your next appointment or schedule a separate appointment sooner.
ETA: It can take a while to test positive for hpv so even if you tested negative previously, you could still have contracted it from him.

@mrs.watkins4715 don't know if you'll see my edit but it can take up to years to actually test positive. So at this point it could be either. Just have an honest conversation with your husband and ask (if you don't already know) if he had any sexual partners during your split.
It's an STI, that's pretty all I know apart from needing to stay away or use protection during flare ups.
Yes mam I had abnormal for 9 years! Then diagnosed w hsil then I skipped out on my hysterectomy and got pregnant w my son boo and it all disappeared!

That's kind of what mine did. Mine was abnormal sense my first one. Abnormal cells or something. Had my first and it went away

Went in for my 20 week check up and found out our son had passed away. Nothing was wrong, my pregnancy has been going great. I'm so numb right now. I'll he delivering him later this week.
