You're definitely right though, you should always pay your way (or at least offer to, whether it's taken or not is up to the receiver), things like that set you up for life for sure. I'll be honest, while we lived with my OH parents, we were terrible with money, his take home after taxes was around £2800 and we had fuck all to show for it. Now, our income is much smaller but we appreciate it much more because we know at the end of it we have paid our bills ourselves, we paid for the roof over our head and the rare luxuries we dk have we know we earned them and appreciate them much more!

@tbrooks15, my brother (21) and my sister (23) both live with my parents and work full time. One pays the gas bill and one pays the electricity bill. When I lived at home and worked i paid for one shop a week.

oh I know exactly what you mean. Before kids we lived it married quarters (hubbys forces) our rent for a massive house was £90 a month which came out his wage before we got it! We had oodles of spare money but squandered it. Since the kids and the mortgage came we lived a long time hand to mouth (still spending a little more than we should ok luxuries!) since buying this new house I’m putting away everything possible. Your priorities change and want better for your family etc. People claiming that don’t need it don’t realise they would have more working if they got that far.

On another note....daddy did buy me a pony when I was little....but left my mum and it went with him...😂😂😂😂

Ok, I understand what you are saying but what I don’t understand is why it’s effecting you. Your little family is good your OH works your boy is healthy, focus on that on the good because being judgmental doesn’t get you very far and for the people you may feel are just being lazy you don’t actually know what’s going on in their lives there may or might not be something that makes them not able to work and at the end of the day it’s not anyone else’s business and shouldn’t be effecting you x

read over the comments again, we’ve all said fair play if you have reasons not to work but you have to admit there are people who abuse the system.

It does effect working people when you open your pay check at the end of every month and there’s a massive chunk of your wages gone and handed over to pay for someone’s new iPhone.

me and my partner both work, maybe it doesn't effect me but it frustrates me that we go out to work and our taxes pay for people who ABUSE the system. Not people who are on the system as i said, i am not against benefits, just those who abuse it. And i'm not attacking anyone person so it's not me assuming people are lazy. I'm saying either a. As a single mum it's pretty much impossible to work especially while they are little b. Some people are physically unable to go to work so they have no choice but to rely on the system and then there is C. People who don't need the system, are fully capable of working but choose to use the system as an income because they just don't want to work. I have no issue with A. And B. I've not labelled any individual person so it's up to everybody else to decide which category which category they belong in...
