Hey y’all. I posted in here last week about the girl I babysit being destructive and physical with my daughter. The parents told me to yell at her when she does that and the feedback I got was to not yell. I told the parents we should try the non yelling approach and they were on the same page. Since then, nothing has changed. She is pulling my daughter to the ground by her clothes, pulling her limbs and now biting her. She just pulled her by the arm and bit her hand. I brought her into time out without yelling, and sat with her, explaining that she can not hit and she can not bite. within 20 seconds of getting out of time out, she went right over and smacked my daughter in the face. She’s hitting her brother, she’s hitting me. So...now what?!

Not yelling is going to get you no where. You need to put some base in your voice and show her who has the authority. A little “time out” isn’t going to do a damn thing for you. As of right now she is aware that you are a pushover and the only consequence you have shown her can be compared to no consequence at all.

Get some structure. You need a schedule, a routine, some consistency. Time out needs to be for hitting and biting. Every. Single. Time. It’ll get frustrating. It’ll get tiring. It’ll teach her. But a routine and predictability will help. It you guys eat breakfast, do a craft, build blocks, go outside, lunch, nap, etc.

@jtaylorg, have you tried looking at a trigger. What causes the behavior, rather than just the behavior itself. Is it transitions, it’s it before meals, is it before nap, is it loud when she act out, over stimulation?

Lord bless you. I don’t know how you’re dealing with that. I could not deal with anyone mistreating my babies. I know she’s just a child as well, but something is definitely going on to be the reason behind her acting out that badly. I would no longer be able to watch her.

How much exercise is she getting? When my son isn't getting enough running/playing time in he gets like this and it's so frustrating.

What do you guys do every day? Do you have structured activities? Maybe she just needs an outlet.

Dad's FB Video!! Did anyone see that video a dad posted on his daughters FB page? He saw a post she made where she bashed her parents and cursed them, called them lazy and told them they should pay her for stuff she did around the house... So he called her out on it and put the video on her page!! Sorry if I missed a post already about this already, but I just saw the video and IT WAS AWESOME!!! Hahahhaa!

I love how I repeatedly told my father in law not to let my daughter root through the toy box because she doesn’t want anything out of it anyway and he keeps picking her up and taking her to the toy box no matter how many times I tell her no and tell him she doesn’t even want anything out of there anyway. At first I told him “only let her get one toy” so she picks one up and he is still holding her over the toy box then tries to put her over the baby gate so she can grab more. I’m sorry but you aren’t the one that has to pick up all these toys. You aren’t the one who has to put them back. He never picks up toys. Everyone wants to get the toys out for her out no one ever wants to help me pick them back up. The fact that I said not to let her get anything out of the box more than 5 times really pisses me off. You may be her grandparent but you aren’t her parent. So now I have mass toys to pic up on top of the toys she already had out from this morning

Idk what to do. My daughter is excited to go to school each day but when she’s actually in school she’s giving the teachers such a hard time. She is constantly running out of the classroom, throws tantrums, tells the teacher no & refuses to do any work. I’m really trying to hold off on pulling her back out but I have no idea what to do. I’ve talk to her several times, I’ve taken all of her toys away, took tv time away, told her she can’t play with her siblings yet she’s still doing what she wants in school.. this is day 3 and she is reckless. I know she needs to adjust but I’m afraid this will be a on going thing 😕. I’ve requested to put her in a smaller classroom setting with more teachers, she also has an IEP so I’m thinking she needs the extra support & im hoping this works.
