Omg my bf kind of has his heart set on a puppy from a litter of them his friend has. I’m due in 2 weeks. He wants a puppy. He’s at said friends house right now, he’s going to come home with a damn puppy. Someone help me idfk how to housebreak a freaking puppy. Here’s my plan though someone tell me if it’s good or not 🤦🏼♀️
Borrow my parents dog crate and crate it at night and when we aren’t home(I CANT have this thing peeing wherever in the house we HAVE to get our deposit back)
I’m making my bf buy a small square footage of fake grass to put on our patio and some kind of fencing so he has his own little grass area on our patio(I already have my own dog to take outside, she hates my house and she’s very old)I’m not going to take both of them at the same time or even one first then the other especially when they both need to pee bad in the morning.
What else can I do to train it 😭😭😭 I’ll take anything cause I’ve NEVER done this before. My dog we have now my parents got her for me for my bday when I was 8 so my mom did the hard parts and got her mostly trained then let me help.

DONT GET THE PUPPY. If you aren't going to take it on walks then it doesn't deserve to be there.

He works from 6am to 330 😒 it’s inevitable to be my responsibility until 4 when he gets home. I told him that like I’m not the one that wants it yet it’ll get stuck on me. It would end up being my dog because IM home not him.

No fricking way would i allow a flipping puppy in my house when I was so close to having a newborn.

I say HELL NO to a puppy when you are about to have a newborn!! We have had our puppy for 2 full months now and I’m exhausted!! She got up at 3:30am today wanting to be up for the day!!! We have a small house and she is crated in the kitchen, where everyone can hear her!!! Crate had to be moved to the garage until 6am when I get up! I tell this story just to remind you that puppies are newborns too!!!! You will have 2 newborns! 🤷🏼♀️ 🍀

My husband tried to get a puppy a few weeks before my daughter was born. Nope. I'm the one that stays home and I'm not potty training a puppy with a newborn. He threw a fit, I didn't give a shit. He can get a dog when she's older but not gonna add the stress of a puppy to me when I have a csection incision and a new baby. I'd put my foot down if I were you. It's not fair to the puppy if you aren't able to fully care for it because of a new baby
I’m trying. I just hate the look on his face when I asked him if he really really wanted it. It’s also hard for me to say no because last week I was begging him for a kitten and I still am or a guinea pig and although those 2 are easier to care for with a new baby it’s still 2 animals I keep asking for and now every time I say I don’t want a damn dog I feel bad because I also want an animal lol

@bubbys.mommy have him take it back 🤷🏽♀️ if you aren't both 100% on board with getting a puppy and taking on responsibility for it then it's a bad idea. Take it from someone who feeds, walks, bathes, exercises both dogs alone. It isn't a fun time. Especially living in an apartment and being home with the kids alone daily. Sorry if my previous comments sounded snotty. They weren't meant to be that way. I just know how hard it is having to do this shit alone with kids.
@bodybycheetos, no you don’t sound snotty. I’m just annoyed that he’s so set in getting one of these puppies then I have to be home alone with 2 kids and 2 dogs by myself until 330. And I’m not sure the current owners would take it back so it would end up in a shelter and I’m generally not the person to do something like that especially since the current owners are okay with keeping them but if they leave they stay left. I can barely handle my ONE dog and my ONE child when we go outside cause he doesn’t listen for crap and my dog doesn’t either I’m like wtf

I actually told him MAYBE. But we have a high functioning autistic 2.5 year old son right now that has a hard time not teasing my 4lb chiweenie and she’s very old I’m nervous about her with another dog but I know how to handle her with that part. I said no dog until I meet them and our son meets them and plays with them. Then I set more rules like I said above.
