Anyone ever refuse to do the 3 hour glucose test? Asking for myself😅
As someone who's had GD I can only suggest trying your hardest. It's not something to mess around with.
Same, definitely look into alternatives. GD is serious and I’m glad I was diagnosed so I can help control it.
As I explained, I’m not trying to skip on it completely. Was wondering if there were alternative ways to get tested? I have horrible nausea and there’s no way I’m going to be able to keep that drink down for 3 hours if I barely could for the one hour test.
I’m doing organic jelly beans as an alternative to the drink they give
@oxmegrdxo, I just told my midwife I didn’t want to do the glucose drink and she offered that as an alternative and I accepted. I’ve heard of moms drinking grape juice, eating a good meal before the test or just testing at home so there’s definitely lots of options. I’d definitely recommend looking towards alternative over completely refusing the test.
Its really really important to do it.
I get it’s really important lol but I was wondering if there was any other way they could test for it? Because with my nausea there’s no way I’m going to keep that drink down for 3 hours. That’s why I came here before I speak with my OB. I know the importance of it.
@oxmegrdxo, I don’t think so. But def talk to your OB
I would ask if you can test your sugars at home instead if you. Are having issues but I wouldn’t just skip it and not make sure you don’t have GDM though.
I haven’t, but I’m going to talk to my dr about other options this Friday when I see them
Me too. With my first I didn’t fail the first test, with this pregnancy I did. And I could barely keep the drink down for an hour with how bad my nausea is😩
It's not as bad as your mind thinks..I hate needles but the wait is what is killer.
My nausea is insane this pregnancy. Right after the 1 hour mark was up and after they drew my blood I ran straight to the bathroom. I don’t think I can keep that drink down for 3 hours😩😩
It’s not the exact same drink I don’t think. I believe the 3 hr drink has less sugar. It might be easier to keep down. I would try it since it’s optimal and if you can’t then ask if you can just test your sugars at home and control them. If you can’t then obviously they would need to prescribe insulin.
