They got me on amoxicillin and I'll have more antibiotics during labor I hate this 😭 can anyone give me advise on this whole GBS thing or can anyone share their stories
They didnt even test me, or tell me I was being tested, guess it just showed up in my urine, but I've read if it's in your urine then you have higher amounts of it in your body

I had it with both pregnancies and not to scare you but both of my babies were born with infections and had to stay in the nicu, your doctor will let you know when to go in, as long as you get the right amount of antibiotics during labor you should be fine, I didn’t get enough antibiotics with either birth they both happened too fast. So many people have it and their babies are born perfectly healthy!
I'm sorry if this is TMI but did they find it in your urine? Because they did mine, and they told me it was a lot and that I'm colonized

Girl it's nothing to stress about. I had it with both my kids. All they did was IV antibiotics and I never had to think about it again. My daughter is 4 and my son is 15 months. They are like any other kids. No blindness and they hear everything just fine. Both were born vaginally. Don't let people scare you. If you aren't medicated before hand they keep a closer eye on your baby but since you have been I'm sure you and baby will both be fine.

i had it with my last baby. they hooked antbiotics to my fluids and i just laid there till they were gone. i had a c section though so idk how it works with vaginal deliveries

I had it and was not even treated 🤦♀️ the drs couldn’t find my charts and I forgot till after lol but she’s two and can see great lol so don’t stress about it. It’s really just a precaution because it’s so easily preventable.

I had tested positive for the group b strep, all they’re going to do is just give you antibiotics in your iv during labor. Don’t stress girl it’s normal and a lot of females test positive
I know but they're also giving me oral antibiotics to take for a week... and everything online says that builds your resistance so when they give you the iv it wont work

@petals, yes they gave me antibiotics as well, and they also gave me antibiotics during labor and my daughter was born perfectly healthy. If you’re treating it, there’s nothing to worry about I promise.

@taytay415 damn. I've heard they could go blind if the infection gets really bad. But I'm hoping the antibiotics they're putting me on now, and what I'll get during labor will prevent all this 🙏

@petals yes medicine will help and no worry's. I'm glad u wasn't rude like the other ladies. All because I typed fast and sent before I wrote the whole thing cause I got side tracked by my kids. Sorry for hoenit sound scary. I had it a couple times. But being on medicine u r fine
Group B strep is a normal member of the human microbiota. Some people have it and some don’t. It’s not an issue. It’s dangerous for babies because their immune system isn’t fully developed and it can cause sepsis.
I had it both pregnancies. With my son, I wasn’t able to get antibiotics because by the time I got to the hospital I was already fully dilated and he was born within 10 minutes. They just paid extra attention to him but luckily nothing happened.

I’m not sure, they just swabbed me but I’m not sure if they tested the urine. Can some people be more positive than others? I’m interested I’ve never heard of testing urine
