We have an appointment on wed to take it out. This is my husbands ingrown toe nail; he has had it for a while, and refuses to go to the doctor. So, I made an appointment for him, and I’m forcing him to go, but he’s having some pus. What can we do until we go to his appointment. I know it’s bad.
I will put pic in the comments.
Omgoodness truly sorry he's going through this. This reminds me of the time I had one in high school. It was pretty bad almost like this. I didn't say anything because I was on the soccer team and didn't want to let the team down. Every time I'd kick the ball I would scream on the inside because of the pain. One day my sock was so bloody smh I'm telling you...So I finally told my dad because he was a nurse. I soaked my foot in hot soapy salt water and then let my foot air dry. Afterwards he cut the ingrown nail out with a new sterilized toe nail clipper. I'm telling you it hurt so bad but when he pulled it out the relief was instant! He immediately poured peroxide over my toe and wrapped it with sterile cotton gauze bandage roll. He changed the bandage/wrapping everyday and kept my foot elevated. I couldn't get it wet though because the point was to keep the moisture OUT of the toe except when soaking it to remove bandage because it may stick to the toe and possibly hurt when replacing it. My toe was healed in about 2wks. Thank the Lord🙌
*((Please see a Dr though))
Is he diabetic? I find it hard to believe that someone with full feeling to their lower extremities could walk around like this.
I’m glad you’re making him go in.
Also no tight shoes and no colored socks, make him wear comfortable house shoes and white socks only!
Tell him to go soak his feet in the bathtub with warm water and Epsom salt, then after it’s soaked in the tub use peroxide, and alcohol, and then let dry, and then put Neosporin on it with a q tip, and then wrap it with bandages not band aids but bandages a band aid will not cover that to keep it clean until he goes to the doctor.
Also tell him if he does not go to his appointment the infection will worsen and get down into the bone. My mom had ingrown toe nails and the infection got so bad that she not only lost her toe nail (your husband might lose his toe nail especially if the infection is as bad as I think it is) but she lost some of the bone in her toe because the infection got down into her bone so tell him he needs to go or else he’ll lose his toe. I had ingrown toe nails but I got them fixed in time before the infection got too bad I got to keep my toe nail because the doctor just burned the roots on the sides of my toe that were causing the ingrown toe nails and everything so tell him he needs to go before it worsens.
I know how difficult it can be to persuade a man to consult. This looks rather serious, hope he makes it to the appointment(seems far). He would probably need to start antibiotics asap...
Epsom salt and peroxide! Make sure he doesn’t miss his appointment!
Omgosh. Ingrown toe nails are removed by surgery. He will definitely need that.
Definitely soap, water and soak in peroxide. I would put on Neosporin and wrap well. Try and let it air out after shower and things. He could end up with MRSA or cellulitis. I'm glad he's going to be seen soon. Hopefully the long term damage isn't too bad.
Soap and water, peroxide. Dry it really well. Light bandage. And smack that man! Ok, just kidding about that part, but omg. I'm so sorry he didn't do something sooner and I pray it's not as bad as it looks. He could lose his toe. Darn men, always so stubborn!!! Keep it dry!
In the future to prevent this he needs to learn how to keep his feet healthy by properly clipping his toe nails or he can just get pedicures done. His doctor can advise. I'm so sorry and again I hope the outcome is better than the pic looks. Putting Neosporin on there could help also witht he infection. Definitely get seen asap because it could turn to gangrene and that can be life threatening. Best wishes mama.
Thank you. He’s been battling with both of his toenails for about a year. I had to make an appointment and forced him to go and take the other one out because it was worst. This on wasn’t as bad, but it has been getting worst with time :/ he is just so stubborn.
Thank you, I hope they can just remove it, and be done with it.
@averaver You're welcome. I get ingrown toenails occasionally and have learned how to prevent them for myself. It is painful, but if he wears proper footwear and takes the time weekly to trim them as needed on a regular schedule he can prevent this going forward under normal circumstances. He needs to get a nail cleaning kit and clean under his toe nails after each shower. He will know then if they need trimmed and will be able to trim them before they start growing into the sides of his toe. Even the smallest ingrown toenail can be painful and I cringe to think about his toe as it is. I really hope he gets into the doctor fast and that the outcome is good.
@itsamemario, you deleted your post before I could hit send but this is my comment: I don’t know if this answers your question but this is my answer.
My son is 7 and he knows race and color. Why? Because he himself comes from a family that is multi racial and because he has already experienced racism. I also believe as his mother it’s my job to teach him color and the cold hard truth about society. He knows what’s going on in this world. I’d be hurting him if I allowed him to blindly walk out...
Ladies who are having a boy are u getting him circumcised? If your gonna be rude and judge then don’t comment PERIOD ‼️
-UPDATE- what is your kids birthday?!
I know we have a post of our EDDs, but do we have a post listing our kids actual birthday (in a list easier to read than the comments in the birth announcement post)?!
We have a racist on the APP ‼️
What the actual fuck. How does he just let it get that bad
