Not really mom related, but I read this article about reasons why women did or did not change their last names when getting married. Out of pure curiosity, what’s your all’s opinions on the subject? Did/would you or not?

I was a child and didn’t realize I had a choice 🤷🏼♀️

I did. It was important for me that my (at the time) future children have the same last name as me and their father. We’re a family unit, therefore we share a family name.

I did. I hated my maiden last name and it was important to me that my kids and I had the same last name. Growing up I had a different last name than my mom (had my dad's last name) and I hated it. I figured it would also make things easier if we all had the same last names.

I would have preferred to keep my maiden name, because I love it, but it was important to my husband that we all share a last name, so I changed it.

Мама двоих (младенец)
I did because I really wanted to. Everyone should do what they prefer to do. 😊

Because I got married.

I changed my last name. Didn't care to hyphenate or keep my last name. I changed it simply because I wanted to.

I always wanted to do it because, well it’s what everyone did. And I kind of always thought what’s the point of getting married if you’re not changing your name? I had thought about not changing it...well, just not getting married ever to keep my maiden name since my dad passed, but I mean i agree it’s whatever makes you happy. I definitely don’t see it as a possessive situation like I read some women had.

I hate my last name and not fond of the family that also carry the last name. So I definitely want to take my hubbys. And if all else fails maybe to to my moms last name.
