It could be a few things and usually not serious. But if it continues ask your dr. to make sure there is no infection, etc.
If the baby had a bad latch or you don’t finish feeding on one side before starting the other side the baby may only be getting the fore milk and not the hind milk. Fore milk is higher in lactose and can cause lime green mucous like poop if getting too much. Try feeding on one side and then switching to the other side and when you feed again use the breast that you fed from last, first this time to make sure it’s emptied of that rich hind milk.
Baby could be having an intolerance to something you’re eating like dairy or spicy foods.
Could be a virus. Keep an eye on it and let the dr know if the baby seems extra fussy or gassy or the green poop doesn’t change.
@jesseandmaisie, if it is dairy and it’s irritating her bowels that could be why it’s a little tinged with blood. Usually if it’s dairy they also projectile vomit (spit up) and are gassy. But anytime something seems unusual I run to the dr.
Every baby is different. Signs and symptoms can always vary. Hope all goes well at the dr tomorrow!!
@kristinachau21, I’m a stay at home mom too!! My husband thinks I’m crazy lol I unfortunately did see it and it scares the hell out of me. I’m putting my girls in bubbles and never letting them out of my sight 😂😂
I would say possibly usually the green mucus poop are intestines being irritated and with the blood streak as well how old is she??? I would call her pediatrician and she if she recommends anything
I don’t know what that is, but it looks bloody and mucusy, and my best conclusion is infection. I would call your doctor, nurses helpline, head to urgent care, or even the er ASAP. I would go ahead and say that’s not normal, and seeking medical attention is in your baby’s best interest.
This starting happening after her 4 month vaccinations. She is completely fine and not fussy at all. This is not super consistent but the pedi said it was dairy in my diet. But tonight it looked like that and scared me. I have an appointment tomorrow morning.
