What “pain management” is offered that’s not an epidural? I don’t want anything that’s going to make me loopy or sick but I want to know what options I have so I don’t just pick something in the heat of the moment 🤔

@butters1106, yeah I feel ya. But there really isn’t anything in those guidelines.

Just consider natural we’ve done it for thousands of years.

That’s the original plan, was just trying to gather info and do a little research.

@butters1106, I’m doing nitrous because that sounds fun 😂

Definitely talk to your OB at your next appointment about pain management options that will be available. Labor at home as long as possible before going in - that will be most comfortable for you.

I was afraid I'd pass out from the pain of childbirth (I have a really low pain threshold). But I made it through without an epidural. I did get an IV with drugs part way through and it was fabulous. Took the edge off the contractions. I'll probably do the same this time around. I'm more nervous about what can go wrong with an epidural so I'll definitely avoid it again.

Good luck momma! Breathing and focus can do wonders!

@joeywiththegoodhair, Umm? I was helping her out by educating her on what’s offered since I myself never saw a good list before labor. Just trying to be helpful. 🤷🏼‍♀️

@aengs2, that’s totally fine and anybody could see that. Why are you upset?

@aengs2, should I explain that she asked for ways that don’t make you loopy and the ones listed at least the ones I’m familiar with don’t fit that criteria. I didn’t call you a bad person or insult you 🙄

Don't count yourself out yet. I went unmedicated and am obviously still here lol. I'm sure you can call your hospital and ask what they offer and how it will affect you but maybe you'll be just fine either way!

My plan is to go unmedicated. But that cervix check really threw me. Idk if she was just unnecessarily rough or I’m just highly under estimating. But she used the top of my belly for leverage and went that felt like elbow deep in a split second and it was just not pleasant 😩. I’m just a little unsure now. Everything has gone over so smooth I knew they’re was going to be something to turn me upside down.... 🙈

@butters1106, PERSONALLY I found the cervical check to be far worse. The adrenaline while actually giving birth definitely numbed me. But everyone's experience is different, no shame in easing your discomfort if you end up needing to.

I got fentanyl fist bc I didn't want to get the epidural. Its supposed to be 100 times stronger than morphine. I still had to get the epidural.

My hospital does offer water birth. But I’m not sure that’s for me, I’m a mess. I’ll end up drowning 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

Gah! I was hoping for better options! 🙈. I had my 36 week check of the cervix and I absolutely hated that. And I’m not sure adrenaline alone is going to push me through. Now I’m getting nervous 😰

Unless you can do a water birth but 99% of hospitals don’t do it

Epidural is the only none loopy option... laughing gas but that will make you loopy, they do fentanyl but that will make you loopy to. It’s either you just deal with it, be numb (or not sometimes it doesn’t work) or loopy.

Short Luteal Phase?

I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
