OKAAAYY! I had my ultrasound today and guess what?! Little miss is breech! 😱 🤦🏼♀️ sooo because of that I scheduled for them to try to flip her at 39wks. Regardless of if she flips or not we will be having a baby on March 1st!
They will be doing it in the OR and monitoring her heart rate, if her heat rate drops they will stop and immediately begin a c section. If she flips, her heart rate stays good we will immediately start an induction because he doesn’t feel comfortable sending me home after flipping. He also said that IF I go into labor before the 39wks they would still attempt to flip her in the same setting as the scheduled flip. However, he doesn’t think she will come before then.
I’m really nervous and keep wondering if it will hurt her when they try to flip her.
What’s your ladies opinions? (Disclaimer: your opinions may not even change my mind on a scheduled c section but it’s nice to know what other mothers would do)

I’m excited but so scared now! Between being worried about her actually hurting from flipping and having a baby I’m like 😳😅😅😱🤯🙃🙃🙃

I was a breech baby (butt first!!). They tried to flip me but it didn't work, my dad said that it was super painful for my mom, then I was born via c-section and apparently both my mom and I almost died 🤷♀️ those are the only details I have, as my dad said he blocked most of the day out 🤦♀️
I personally would probably just schedule a c-section, not even try to flip, if the doctor would let me. (My son was big and didn't fit, so he was a c-section, which probably would influence just doing a c-section again, especially if the baby were breeched.)

I’m not scared of dying or my being hurt as they said they’d administer a spinal before hand. But I’m really worried about it physically hurting her. Like I’m really concerned about that.
My first was a c section because her head was swelling on my cervix and that irritated my cervix and made it close from a 9 to a 5 in an hour. They and I felt I wasn’t going anywhere but backwards from there.

Flipping can cause lots of pressure and discomfort but doesn’t necessarily always cause large amounts of pain. It’s awkward and uncomfortable, and pain wise our patients says depends on size and also what type of breach position babe is in also makes a difference.

@santistevanmommie, Depends often patients don’t want a spinal block because if they can naturally deliver they want to be able to labour on their ball, walk around, be on all fours and other positions. Even with a spinal block you’d still feel the pressure of what their doing just like during a csection ❤️

I was going to ask my dr about that. I really wanted to be able to labor naturally and I realized (once my mom brought it up) that that may not be an option because of the spinal. He told me I could change my mind in the next 2wks and it’ll be fine I still would have her on the 1st. Now I’m like 🤔🤔 what to do?!

I refused to try flipping so late. I found out at 39w he was breech and had him at 39w3d because i wouldnt let them touch me. I read up on it and as minimal the risks are i didnt want to risk it. Bruising, placental abruption, broken bones, cord around the neck just aren't worth it to me

That’s why he wanted to do it in the or already so if her heart rate drops at all within 2-3 minutes I’d be open and in the process of taking her out.
But I’m really concerned for if she could feel pain from them basically forcing her to turn. Because if she can feel actual pain from it I’d definitely change my mind.

they start to feel pain at 20w and considering some babies are born earlier then 39w id assume at 39 they can

that’s my assumption, and to me knowing that I’d rather opt for the c section because, why should I make her go through pain when I can handle a c section.

There is this website called spinningbabies.com I was suggested it by a doula, the website suggests natural exercises and method you can try to get baby to turn on her own. It might be worth a try if your really not wanting a c section or to physically turn her.

My baby girl was breeched until like 34 weeks but I wouldnt flipped her if she was still breeched I was already in pain with my pelvis at the time. In my opinion I would get the csection. I would also try exercise to flip her cause thats what I did and she flipped on her own.

Yeah my sister is 32 weeks baby is breach I know she has a lot of time to turn. They were suggesting turning the baby if she doesn’t herself later on. My sister is not going for it and I don’t blame her
