I’m in the process of building one property and buying two and although $1500 is the average mortgage where I live, I agree that the interest you’re paying is on the higher end. I’m not sure how long you’ve lived there, but is refinancing an option? Have you guys done work on the house and added any sweat equity? I guess if it’s under two years you gotta wait. In the meantime, you can always do things like what @joeywiththegoodhair suggested, or do what my best friend does and uses half her tax return as a principal only payment, 1/4 to fixing up the house so it continues to build equity and she can refi and lower her payment at anytime rates are favorable. It can be done, it just looks painful in the process.

Oh Heck naw! The bank or y'all agent should have cared enough to see a red flag! So your interest is HIGH! In my area that is like the med range for monthly mortgage payments. But the interest I don't think so!

Interest is always paid first. In a few years you’ll notice less in interest more in principle. Check out an Equity accelerator program. Not sure what banks offer

Them but essentially- you paid half your mortgage every 2 weeks. This causes an extra payment to be made a year.

Payment a year a 30 year loan gets paid off in 19 years. And/or you save thousands in interest.

Does the 1300 include your escrow?
