My twins have been on a strong dose of amoxicillin for a few days because of bronchitis, so my question is... is it normal for babies to have pop in their diaper every diaper change? I can't believe how much they have been pooping since they have been on it. The last time they were on amoxicillin it was not like this. I'm guessing because it was a weaker dose? I've been feeding them yogurt for the probiotics

Yes, it kills their gut flora. Increase the
Yogurt or add another probiotic

Yeah I figured we needed to get the powdered probiotics to add to their formula.

ugh, I was on one this summer that took me months to fix my gut. It was awful

Omg yes Damien was on penicillin for a few days last week and it was horrible! His poor butt was near bleeding and he’s never had a butt rash before! We switched antibiotics and it stopped luckily.

Yeah I'm having that problem with my girl twin, her butt looked like she got sunburn on it and she would scream when we cleaned her. But now it's getting better. I felt so bad for her. I just aired her our for a bit and have been using butt paste with aloe so it seems to be helping

We had to start rinsing him in the shower as soon as he pooped or he would scream from the poop touching his butt. It was so horrible. 😭 I hope your little ones are better soon!

My son was prescribed amoxicillin 6 months ago and his first symptoms were explosive diarrhea, raised red butt and balls and even bleeding! Then he went from that to stopped up, passing bloody balls, not eating and lots more side effects. The doctor kept saying it would correct itself but it didn’t and we had to go see a gastrointestinal specialist after he suffered for 4 months going back and forth from constipation to diarrhea and even got yeast infections! I was so distraught and livid at our pediatrician for being so passive about it all and it wasn’t until I made a post on Facebook where I learned countless other mothers children were suffering the same symptoms sometimes years later! Pediatricians kept putting the symptoms off as “normal” and telling mothers to wait it out but truth is after speaking to the gastrointestinal specialist and countless other pediatrician’s amoxicillin is too strong for babies under 12-18 months and should only be prescribed when absolutely necessary (not for damn sniffles and runny nose like my son) and when prescribed they need prescription strength probiotics to counter the antibiotics stripping away the good and bad enzymes from the gut, feed yogurt daily to replace those enzymes and adhere to a strict diet of no dairy, red dye, gluten, sugar, high fat and other foods that may trigger either diarrhea or constipation. There’s absolutely no reason for a child to suffer like mine did and now I know what to do and tell other mothers when I can. I’ve made several posts about this and even after 6 months my son still has IBS and chronic constipation if we stray from his diet. His gut is still healing and it could be years before it corrects itself! 🤦♀️ I blame myself for trusting his pediatrician so blindly when usually I do research on my own before giving him anything but now I know and I hope I’ve helped

Sorry about your son. Wish I knew this. I had a feeling it was to strong for their little bodies.

the doctor prescribed them 200mg twice a day for 10 days of amoxicillin. My older son pretty much has the same thing they have but it was caught early so he is only on 100mg. My twins where also on amoxicillin a month ago for ear infections from a cold, but it was only 100 mg
