Are there any effective ways & things I can do to help soften and dilate my cervix faster? At my appointment my doctor said I was MAYBE a fingertip dilated and 60% effaced.
Dilation tells you nothing about when the baby will come.! And checking actually puts you at risk for infection my doctor never checked me she said she didn't wanna risk infection the baby will either come or not at my 40 week appointment I asked to be checked I was only 1cm I got induced days later but had an emergency c section.
I’ve never heard that before honestly, but my doctor uses a glove when he checks. I know dilation means nothing, this isn’t my first child. I was 2 cm with my first for a whole month or so and had him the day before my due date 😂
@tylersmommy11116 yeah checking can cause infection bleeding and sometimes the doctor can even accidentally break your water
@texxie, aweh bless my water broke the night before my due date and I had him on my due date. It said dates are suppose to make the pushing easier and faster but that was a whole ass lie 🤣😩
@texxie, yes I ate a bag of dates and a fresh pineapple every day I was so tired of being pregnant haha
It didn’t work for me tho!!! My baby was still a week late and I had to get induced. 😒 lol
With my first son I was already 2 cm dilated by this time, never had to get induced. My doctor started talking about induction dates and it literally has just freaked me out!
Everyone’s body is different no matter wat u try ! At 39 weeks I did everything to try to dilate but nothing really work I dilated like half a centimeter but that’s it . I didn’t really dilate til the night before I gave birth
@tylersmommy11116, I'll tell you from experience not to stress this whole dilation thing. Both pregnancies I dilated what is considered slow or late and my inductions are scheduled.. But it happens all at once for me and I go in go into labor 1 day before I'm scheduled to be induced. Baby #1 was 1 day late and baby #2 was 1 week late... Just do a lot of walking, dancing, and sex lol! Ps. I do know of ppl that eat pineapples and egg plant parmesan. Good luck!
Try walking A LOT. I also ate a fresh pineapple and dates. They’re supposed to help but it was hard to eat those dates since I’m not used to the taste
Yeah, you can wait until you're full term and it'll happen when its ready
@tylersmommy11116 as states by a previous poster FULL term is 39 weeks.
You'll be EARLY term. Now that we know more about baby's development and how important it is in the last few weeks for brain and lung development, they have changed the recommendations.
@klazaro, understand. I was misinformed. I was told 37 weeks is considered full term.
@tylersmommy11116, if u have the baby he/she will b ok idk why they keep saying that to you
2* centimeter dilated not 1 sorry at the time I was a centimeter djlated and 65% thinned out she told me to use them. Bounce on a yoga ball or walk. And those are the exact ones I used
That’s what my obgyn told me to do and the next week I was 98% thinned and a centimeter dilated
Evening primrose oil pills insert them in your vagina they melt and soften the cervix
@tacos4lyfe, just FYI I’ve read to not use EPO vaginally until at least 38-39 weeks. I was also induced with my first and suspected I’d need induction again due to BP issues so I wanted to prepare. And it turns out I was right.. getting induced Tuesday
@tacos4lyfe, I wasn’t planning on doing ANYTHING other than walking and stuff like that until I hit the 39 week mark! My doctor hasn’t really given me a valid reason as to why he’s wanting to induce me. Idk if it’s because I’ve been complaining about how miserable I am or what but I didn’t have to get induced with my first so when he started talking about induction dates with this one I instantly started freaking out.
Yeah, you can wait until you're full term and it'll happen when its ready
