Wow first time in 40 years without a Thanksgiving dinner. Anyone else not doing Thanksgiving? I dont know how I feel…

I am a holiday freak now as a mother and would not sabotage it like my mother did for anything unless illness or something awful.

We’re not doing a traditional thanksgiving. But we’re having a bunch of apps and relaxing with our boys. No family is coming over, it’s just us 4. But that’s how we love it lol

Last year we didn’t really have a Christmas because everyone in the house was sick. It was super depressing. That was my first time in 36 years without seeing my family and it was terrible

No we will never not do thanksgiving. We just stay home though. We don’t go anywhere. We stay home all day and cook. It’s also my sons bday so we are celebrating that too

One year, my mother was mad at us so she cooked chicken soup (with rice in it I think)and said she was not making a turkey. I remember being crushed. I was about 12yrs old I believe. She always went in to these immature fits that would last weeks and sabotage plans. That was a sad Thanksgiving. She ignored us and I cried in my room.

I have had a few Thanksgivings with no celebration before and Christmases. Different situations and times.
