Thanks for the information ladies. I honestly didn't know this. I have never removed a coat to put them in a car seat from my oldest to my youngest. You learn something new everyday

Yes most definitely I put her coat on in the house than when we get to the car I take off lay the coat on top of her with a blanket my car is warm she wears a hoodie no a heavy hoodie and than when we get to wherever we need to be I put her coat on . It’s a lot of work but it’s worth it

No matter how tightly you adjust the straps against the coat, the coat WILL compress, and your child can be ejected from the seat.
If you’re having to adjust the straps for a jacket/coat, it’s too thick, and should be removed.

Even when the straps are snug against a coat there is still a ton of space because coats are so bulky. A thinner fleece or sweater is fine, but not big winter coats.

My sons car seat is fit for him in just a T-shirt and pants. But his light weight winter coat fits without adjusting the straps. Otherwise I have a warm blanket that I keep in the car.

She wears a thin fleece sweater in the car that’s still warm and has a blanket. Car seat safety is very important to us.

My daughter doesnt ever wear a coat since shes so young. I wrap her in a blanket to and from the car. And dress her in 2 layers.

I've never heard of that before. Why can't you just adjust the straps to fit snugly around the jacket?
It will cause them to compress and the harness isn't as close to child as can be.
Winter coats are a no no
Hoodie/light jacket are fine.

I’ve been struggling a bit on how to do this with my baby. He’s 5 months now and it’s starting to get really cold! I struggle to take his coat off and on the car without exposing him in the cold more than I need to. (Sometimes I cant really get him zipped up without getting him out of the car) any advice is much appreciated!
