I had my first OB appt today: she said no cleaning the cat litter boxes. However, my IVF doctor told me as long as I wear gloves, face mask, and wash hands then I should be ok 🤔 Which one do I listen to?? (Side note I live alone so not cleaning the litter boxes will be difficult!)

Gloves are fine. Especially if you have an indoor cat. I did it my entire pregnancy because I had no other choice.

You can also take your cat to the vet and have them tested for toxoplasmosis, if they don't have it and are an indoor only cat then you don't need to worry. If they do get out for an extended period of time after you test then it's possible for them to be exposed, but it's really rare for indoor cats to have it. Hope that helps!

Honestly, if your cat is an indoor cat and isn’t exposed to rodents or raw meat, it would be almost impossible for it to get toxoplasmosis. The mask is also a weird precaution since it’s transferred orally and isn’t airborne.. just don’t put your hands in it then touch your mouth.

I didn't clean mine but I had my husband who would do it. If u ABSOLUTLEY have too just make sure to take precautions!! It's not safe for baby to have those fumes breathed in but if u live alone you don't really have a choice !
