Without any judgement... can someone remind me what fever temp is mandatory to go to the ER or pediatrician. Bellamy’s pediatrician is extremely old school, so when I called for advice to help bring his fever down and told him it was 100.3, he completely freaked out and told me to bring him in.😣 Just when I thought I was doing everything right, I find out I can’t even tell the difference between a low or high grade fever. 🤦🏻♀️ stupid Mia.🙃
Did you end up taking him? Adalynn had a fever all night and I thought it was due to her popping her first tooth but I took her in this morning because it was 100.4 and she ended up having an ear infection😔 I hope baby boy is feeling better!!
I didn’t, but now that you mention it, an ear infection definitely sounds more likely than teething for him. What did they say when you took her in? I’m wondering if that’s what he has now. :/ Poor baby girl! How is she doing now?? And thank you💛 He seems okay, but has his moments of crying, fussiness and etc... throughout the day. 😩😭
@miaheka, they just asked if she had any other symptoms and if I was giving her anything for her fever.. Which I gave her Tylenol & Motrin which didn’t seem to help. They hooked her up to a machine to check her oxygen levels which were good but that freaked me out a little😫 They gave her medication which I’m suppose to give her every 12 hrs for 7 days.. She’s doing better now no more fever thank goodness!! Are you giving him anything? I feel so bad for them poor babies😔
@asandovaln, omg, poor baby girl! 😩 I’m glad her fever’s gone!! 💛 I’m going to wait to see how he feels tomorrow to decide whether to take him in or not. I hope it’s just teething, but an ear infection could be possible though i hate to admit it.😣 I haven’t given him anything, Tylenol never really helps him unfortunately, so we’ve just been riding it out. I hate seeing him in so much pain! 😭 Thank goodness baby girl is feeling better!💜💜💜💜
Sounds like he needs to retire 😂 that’s not even a fever. But it does sound like your little man is teething! Poor guy 😕
If medication is not helping and the temperature stays high, or gets higher. I would definitely bring baby to the ER. My daughter had a febrile seizure about two weeks ago. I gave her tylenol but her fever did not go down. It went from 101, to 102, by 103 wer were concerned so we contacted her on call pediatrician &’ she recommended we switch off tylenol and ibuprofen. So while my SO drove to the store, my daughter had a seizure and i had to contact 911. We were advised to give my daughter ibuprofen just to lower her temp, then we rushed her to the nearest childrens hospital.
@momof3dragons, &’ Thank goodness! And i bet! Fevers will probably now freak me out.
I was hysterical on the phone talking to 911. Thankfully we live minutes away from the firestation. They got to our home quickly.
I had a dog who had epilepsy and we took care of him for years. It honestly brought me back to those times when my dog would have them and i was so scared for my daughter. I had never heard of a febrile seizure so i thought she was going to be diagnosed with epilepsy.
@momof3dragons, yeah i cant even imagine those that have to deal with it 😭
That’s not high at all I would recommend going in once it gets around 100.5 when Maddie got sick as a baby I would give her frozen teething rings to suck on they really helped her a lot.
It was 100.5 this morning around 5am but now it’s at 100.3 so it seems to slowly be going down. I tried giving him frozen teething toys, and he hates them lol 😩 I think it might actually be from teething, but I’m not sure because we haven’t gone down that road yet, and he refuses to let us check his gums. 😩
I wonder if he misunderstood you and thought you said 103 because 100.3 is nothing to worry about. 🤔
No, I don’t think he did. I repeatedly told him it was 100.5 this morning and now it’s at 100.3 and he still found it too high. He’s like 70 lol very old school. He was my SO’s pediatrician when he was a baby. 😅 We usually see his daughter, but it was just him today.
Past 6 months I think it's above 103, if it's been more than three days, it won't go down at all, or if there's other serious signs, like constant vomiting, lethargy, swelling, etc. 100.3 is nothing unless he's acting very weird.
@miaheka, oh, it can totally be from teething! My son got a very low fever and a runny nose when teething. You're welcome. His doctor usually doesn't even want to see him unless it's been a few days or it's very high. Or if he's breathing weird.
@nomli, really?! Bellamy also has a runny nose. Do you have any advice for teething? I’m pretty sure that’s what it is, he keeps putting everything in his mouth and cries when it doesn’t satisfy him. This would be our first time going through teething, so any advice would be extremely appreciated!!!💛☺️
@miaheka, I have none, I'm sorry, haha. My son wouldn't chew on anything even remotely cool, teethers he'd maybe gnaw on for five minutes. When he'd get really bad I'd give him Tylenol or motrin, especially at night so he'd get some sleep. Someone said to give him refrigerated sticks of cucumber or zucchini, because it'd feel good and would turn to mush as he chewed, but he wasn't a fan. Same with frozen dollop of yogurt. Supposed to feel great, if only he ate them.
It was at 100.5 this morning, but it seems to be going down since it’s now at 100.3
Most doctors don't even consider it a fever at all until 100.4
Maybe he miss heard you and thought you said 104 not 100.4 🤔
Worse is the oncall at Madisons doctor office said to not call again unless her fever hits 105 when her fever was already at 103. 🤦🏻♀️
That’s generally the rule for newborns. For infants it’s higher but depends on your exact pediatrician. He does sound old school. That is low grade.
He’s very old school. He was my SO’s pediatrician lol I was hoping to get his daughter on the phone, but It ended up being him. He started yelling at me to bring him in and I’m a bad parent if I don’t. I told him repeatedly that Bellamy is 7 going on 8 months next week, and he could possibly be teething instead of it being a cold, but he continued to say 100.3 is too dangerous and etc... made me question myself as a mom, but it just doesn’t seem high enough to go to the ER to me. He’s still a happy playful baby, the only thing different is that he’s extra fussy and lethargic.
When my 6 yr old was that age he ended up going unresponsive while I was waiting on my friend to take my son to ER cuz his fever was not reducing at all. I ended calling the ambulance 🚑 and while on phone when he actually went unresponsive. And that was at 102 something
