My boyfriend wanted to know gender sooner and I wanted it to be a surprise and he was sick that day and stayed home with the kids and I came back and had got stuff at the store, something small cause he hates surprises and I revealed it to him first. I know some people have the doctor sent the stuff secretly to a specific bakery and they get a cake reveal for them both.
