When is it normal to get your epidural during labor? I didn’t get mine until I was about 7cm dilated…

They wouldn’t let me once I got to an 8.

I don't think it's a "normal" period. I notice a lot of people are set on getting it and they get it upon arrival/or Asap rather. Others "tap out" meaning they try to hold out as long as possible. Which is what I did at 7. I came in 0 dilated/induced. I may be incorrect but I think you can't get it pass 7...

I got mine at 7cm

My first I went totally natural - but I wouldn't have been able to get it no way because the policy was to take a class on it and I didn't prior too.

My second the pain was wayyy worse. I plan to try to hold out this time as long as I can as well.

The first i was induced and it the pain was bad!!! I got it at 3 cm and when i did i jumped from 3cm to 8cm in an hour! My baby was out 2 hours later. With my second i got it at about 5 cm and it didnt work so i went natural and it was nothing like how i thought it would be, it didnt hurt that bad. Recovery was wayy faster too!!

I think I was a 7 or 8, and my doctor wanted to break my water, and was concerned that I’d kick her :-) So I had to get it..... around 2 hours after I was admitted....lol. It gave me some much needed sleep, but also I think it slowed my labor because my doc had originally said by the time everyone wakes up she will be here.... and my lo was born a little past noon.... lol
