Would getting my membranes swept at 37+4 weeks be ok since I’m going for a ultrasound and nst appointment and a doctors appointment all in the same day (I will be 37+4 weeks on the 15th)
I had one done at 38w and 39w and it seemed to work for me and
@pookiedoo you cant do sweep anyway if your cervix is closed, the doctor has to get his finger inside it.
Sounds like putting yourself through unnecessary pain.
A membrane sweep isn’t going to be effective unless you are already progressing into labor naturally. If you’re cervix is still closed/tight, a sweep is useless.
@feeneythebashingqueen they swept mine at 37 weeks my daughter was 5 pounds
My doctor swept my membranes at 37 weeks had her two days later had to stay an extra day in the hospital for an infection I got from them checking my cervix to much.
@babymamaof2, yes I agree with @ashtonndamon, that’s dangerous imo. What if someone decided to do it at 37 weeks and actually went into labor? My daughter was 6lbs6oz at 39+4 (induction) I can’t imagine how small she would’ve been at 37ish weeks. That could’ve been a nicu stay.
@babymamaof2 i wouldnt do it until 39 weeks.
@feeneythebashingqueen, my ob Gyn office usually suggests it around that time
@babymamaof2, why are they suggesting it before 40 weeks? Or even at the end of 39 weeks? That’s too early
@itty_bitty, yes I would be asking for it my ob had suggested it for 37-39 weeks but I said I would think about it
anything special happen at 37 week doctor appointment?
37 weeks today :) hopefully on my appointment Monday with my doctor he will tell me he can induce me at 39 weeks ...does being induce hurt??

37 weeks today !! It's almost time..

@pookiedoo, I’m already 1.5 cm and 50-60% effaced
