We have a joint account. We always ask each other. He pays all the bills. So he knows how much we have. Idk so I have to ask how much we have to spend.

I ask bc my husband works and handles finances. We live paycheck to paycheck so there's not much left to spend. He always tells me or ask and I do the same.

My husband and I both work and make our own money. I handle paying the bills, but he gives me his share of the finances. I don't ask for my purchases, and he doesn't ask for his unless it's some big...or takes a lot of room.... 😏

@beakymcspence and that's totally cool with me, I'm hatin' lol... My husband don't even know how to pay a bill and ain't asking no questions about it either. I have updated his calendar so he knows the due dates and how to pay if I'm in coma lol

@angelfoodcake, We both pay bills, neither one of us is the designated accountant. For example:

1. I pay my SUV payment-Darrell pays the truck.

2. I pay the mortgage on our rental income property and Darrell pays the mortgage for the home we live in.

3. I pay cell phone and internet utilities, and he pays power and gas etc etc.

I’d not say in our relationship one of us has ever been the accountant..we both discuss bills and each of us remembers to pay certain ones from our joint account lol

@laniejay Just because someone "asks" doesn't mean it's out of authority, it could out of courtesy or assurance of what's available or not available financially tho' - in most relationships 1 or the other take the responsibility of being sort of say the accountant

A husband shouldn’t have to “give” and a wife should not have to “ask”. Both parties should be on the same page about finances always.

M husband works full time and I only work 2 days a week but we have a joint account and we both spend as we want and only ask for big purchases

I control the finances/ well pay the bills, so my husband also asks me about bigger purchases because he doesn't know what the heck is going on on. He too does not want that responsibility but overall it's our money and he's brings in more than half @bigmama18 @ariesbabe.x

Well i used to be the only one working but then i was in a car accident in 2014 and messed my back up so now i'm disabled. When he gets paid i usually take care of paying most of the bills and get what i need but that's it, i have a hearing for disability next month and if i get it i don't plan on spending his money anymore for things i need.

I don't ask my boyfriend before spending money I'm a sahm so he took on the responsibility of being the bread maker so there is no my money and his money its our money now I don't got on shopping sprees but if I'm out I spend money if he's out he spends its all in one account that we both have access to.

We both work and our account is joint..we both have a card for the same account. We don’t ask unless it’s something big..and if it’s a gift we both have a savings account for that so the other doesn’t know. For example Christmas I bought his golf clubs from my savings account so he’d not know. I’d imagine it’s different if only one spouse works, but I have always worked aside from maternity leave.

I work. I have certain bills I spend my money on then what’s left I can spend on what I want. I tell him what money I need and he hands it to me. Or he just leaves me money laying around when he’s feeling generous which is a lot of the time. He has a bank account but we don’t use it. It’s for savings. The money we can spend is the cash he keeps after getting his checks cashed for the week.

I don’t buy anything over like 20$ without telling him. But I never ask unless he says we need to watch what we spend. I don’t track the account he does so he knows how much money we have to spend. But big purchases on both side (more than 100$) is asked by both of us.

My husband doesn’t give me money unless I ask. He just controls the finances. He pays the bills and makes the budget. I don’t want that responsibility. So I ask how much and when I can or can not spend money. I have the credit card but I still ask to use it.
