I understand that 5lbs 9oz is small at 37 weeks.......but to be considered an IUGR ? If we just let him grow and come on his own I think he'll be just fine. At my next appointment on Friday I think I'm going to decline induction for the 16th and just let baby do what he wants.

I would def hold off on an induction like you want. Unless there is something really wrong. 1) due dates are guesses that can be off by 2 weeks in either direction 2) weight estimates can be off 2lbs in either direction and 3) 5lb is in a range of normal weights for a baby. My ob who has been in practice forever told me he has seen baby average weights increase due to poor diet and growth hormones in food. He said his average for baby weight favorites is 6-7lbs.

I had a septate uterus malformation that they monitored closely with sonos as my son measured a couple weeks behind, I carried full term at 39.5 weeks and he was 6lb 13oz and was healthy despite all my bodies issues. I would definitely verify with your OB at the ultrasound that it’s safe to let babe come naturally so it can bake a little longer. 😘

Yeah I'm definitely gonna wait. I will feel so much better if I did

I agree. I feel I'm just gonna have small babies. I feel selfish for forcing him out if it doesn't seem completely necessary. I was telling them I understand that in some instances he would be better off out than in but at the rate he's going I feel like he would be OK staying in unless my next ultrasound tells me otherwise

That seems like good weight fir that gestation. I was induced at 39 weeks with my daughter and she was 5lbs 11.5oz which we figured due to my placenta

Yes I been having ultrasounds every 2 weeks since 29 weeks because my daughter had IUGR. They just wanted to make sure he was on a steady growth pattern, which he has been. My placenta started malfunctioning with my daughter also but it's doing fine this time around.

@fishinamanda, intrauterine growth restriction.
And I agree with you. He should be fine if you decide to let him come on his own. Heck my done was born at 38 weeks 3 days and was only 5 pounds 14 oz. sometimes babies are just on the small side.

Have you had ultrasounds? I mean obviously you have recently since they have a weight prediction. Did they look at your placenta?
