So I have a 3yr old who suffers from cosntipation and is resisting to go poo. Meaning he now knows how told hold it in. It’s driving me wild because I know it can’t be good for him. Anyone else been through this or gone through it? I’m ready for it to be over it’s so stressful! 😡
When my boys get constipated I give the lots lots of apples with caramel on the side and they drink it with apple juice.... Makes them poop that same day or the next morning, ages almost 2 and 3...
My daughter went through this. We give her Culturelle probiotic and fiber powder mixed into juice several days a week. That helps to keep her regular. We also make sure she gets plenty of fresh fruit in her diet. Also if you haven’t already started a reward system, that works too. We give our daughter “poopoo candy” every time she goes in the toilet. I have a few different types and let her pick what she wants.
@raquel4 No problem really any food that is high in fiber like beans potatoes if you make quesadillas mash up some pinto beans or black beans or if he likes fideo put some beans in it with papas.. Sandwiches on whole grain bread or wraps with avocado and apples or pears..
@torres817, thanks girlfriend!! I need diff food ideas. Help a sista out
Try to eliminate some of the foods that might constipate him like noodles oatmeal to much bread things like that.. I did that with my daughter and she hasn't complained about her tummy hurting or her butt hurting from constipation n make sure he drinks a lot of water.. she now has been going at ease trust me I had this problem too! She would rather poop in her pull up rather then toilet because she was scared it might hurt again but as soon as I changed her diet she has no longer been constipated n is going just fine. I myself feel some relief for her..
No, removing pull up has not helped him with pooping but I’m hoping it will get him to know that it’s ok to poop somewhere other than a pull up. I just really want him to poop on toilet or in the potty but he’s holding it. When he’s by his grandma, he’ll poop in underwear and try to hide it. At home, he just doesn’t poop. We are still trying to figure out if he’s not pooping by choice or because of constipation@raquel4,
@mhbb3, because when he’s constipated it hurts him to go so he’s associating pain with pooping. @girlmom., I’ll look into those for sure. @withlovedkj, so removing his pull up helped him? Is it that he doesn’t like the poop in his underwear? @kaydensmama0894, I give him only prune juice with apple juice and miralax from time to time
My son is almost fully potty trained but holds his bowel movements. It seems he’s afraid to go. Sometimes he’ll do it in underwear but most of the time he’s holding it. We took him completely off pull ups for this reason, so we are monitoring his bowels to be sure he goes daily. He didn’t go the entire weekend. Speak with his pediatrician to see if there is any stool softeners or liquids you can give him to help out.
Mine also refuses to go poo in the toilet...I block our living room sit in the hallway on my phone because it gets borring waiting for a kid to have to poo..he goes naked and he finally has to poo so I sit him on the toilet ..he cries and kicks but when you gotta go you gotta go...since he loves fries . afterwards he gets to eat fries..even if it means that's for breakfast, next time it's not so bad he knows he gets a treat of his choice..he's now potty trained,it's only been 3 months
