To mamas who have had miscarriages: how long did you bleed/spot after it started? It’s day 16 for me

About a week. Baby was only about 5 or 6 weeks. Max 7. I think it depends on how far along you are

No longer then a week. I lost one of my twins at 12 weeks I bleed for two days. N stopped the other baby was perfect she is 3 now. I lost a baby at 8 weeks and bleed a lil over a week.

Good luck mama! We got the full anticoagulant blood work up at the beginning of this pregnancy. Dr wanted to make sure there weren't any blood clotting disorders because I have a history of retained products. No blood clotting disorders but I do have mthfr c677t. My body doesn't absorb folic acid correctly.

My OB recommended we not try again (after our 4th pregnancy loss) until we’ve had a full work up at a fertility specialist. Our appointment is on the 25th. 🤞

@jessig2006, maybe it is my period. I had discharge similar to what I get while I ovulate 2 days before I started bleeding, so that wouldn’t be that far off if it was. Not sure why my body would want to ovulate while I still had elevated HCG levels and an empty gestational sac, but our bodies have done weirder shit.

Aunt Flow lol sorry. I'm glad they didn't find any retained products. I am wondering if it's possible your body is trying to ovulate or have a period right away. I started having ovulation bleeding after our second son was born. Freaked me out.

@jessig2006, what does AF stand for? I have had a follow up ultrasound and there is no remaining evidence of pregnancy in my uterus. Thank God! I’m still experiencing spotting to light bleeding, headaches, nausea, diarrhea, back pain (normal for me, but gets worse with hormonal surges)

I feel like mine was about 2 weeks or so. Is the dr checking your hcg levels to make sure they go to zero? If they aren’t, you can check to make sure the levels are going down by taking a pregnancy test. The bleeding won’t stop if there’s retained product. Your body is just going to keep trying to flush it out.

I went for about 2-3 weeks if I'm not mistaken

1st was a blighted ovum at 8 weeks. I bled for 8 days straight and got first AF exactly 4 weeks after bleeding stopped. 2nd was 8-12 weeks in my right ovary. I bled 8 days and got first AF a week after bleeding stopped. 3rd was genetic abnormality at 14 weeks and needed d&c. Bled for 46 days but had issues and complications. Retained products, needed a repeat d&c and still passed retained products 4 months after the original d&c. 16 days does seem a little long. How are you feeling besides? I might out a call in Monday and just let them know you're still bleeding.

And it hasn’t been like a period either, where it gradually tapers off. This is the second time I thought I was done bleeding after 2 days of only faint blood when I wipe, to having to wear a pad the next day. I bled for 19 days with one of my other miscarriages, but it was 4 years ago, so I don’t remember if the bleeding was inconsistent like this.
