I started feeling down cause baby girl won't be breastfed. Kinda feel like I'm failing her. Any advice?
@prettyflower1033 remember, what you pump isn't the amount your baby gets out while nursing. Babies are way better at getting milk than pumps. Some times pumping just doesn't work for some women. Hope all goes good with your appointment 😍
@ivegot10 thanks mama. I have an appointment set up for next week so I'm hopeful. In the meantime im just pumping the little bit that I find
Breastfeeding is hard work... Don't give up, it can take several days for your milk to come in. Nurse on demand. It will feel like you're nursing 24/7. But babies know that's their "job" to get the milk in. Definitely consult with a lactation consultant. They will be able to help you, if breastfeeding is what you want to do. Fed is best, whatever you choose. You are doing your very best for your baby😍
You are not failing your little one just because you can’t breastfeed. Remember that this is new for the both of you. Baby girl is learning how to breastfeed right along with you. It took my baby a few days to get the hang of it. Getting her to properly latch the first few days was so hard and frustrating. I cried and cried in front of the nurses at the hospital and at home. What helped her latch was a nipple shield. They’re only $10 bucks and will make your life so much easier. They help baby position their mouth properly to get the perfect latch every time. How do you know your milk hasn’t come in at all? The lactation consultant will weigh her before and after you feed her to see how much milk she’s getting, if any. Like other ladies have mentioned, keep doing skin to skin and try manually expressing to try to help your milk supply. If it doesn’t end up working out, do not beat yourself up! If you have to give formula, it’s okay. What’s most important is that baby gets fed and you take great care of her. Good luck mama!
Fed is best! Whatever is best for you and your family, is best for baby.
@tyrellp yes you're right. Going to give it my all then make sure that shes breast fed.
@tyrellp wow great success mama.. Thanks for sharing. This definitely gives me hope 🙏
@scidg3 Thank you mama. I have got to remember that. I will for sure do skin to skin.
Your baby is still just days old @prettyflower1033 It can take several days for your milk to come in. You could also pump every 2 to 3 hours (this takes crazy dedication 😪) it takes a bit for your milk to come in even pumping. Skin to skin is also great.
@prettyflower1033, definitely not too late if it’s what you really want to do! Hand Express and keep putting baby to breast. YouTube some latches and make sure you pace feed when giving a bottle. You produce enough, society has just made us doubt what is natural.
Keep trying mama! Try a nipple shield!! It helped breast feed both mine.
@prettyflower1033 all 3 of mine were on Enfamil Gentlease. My first 2 had issues with spitting up with the regular formula. After switching to the Gentlease, they never had another issue again. So with my youngest I just went straight to Gentlease and she never had any problems. It's the only formula I'll ever use.
You're not failing her. You are trying. I actually breast fed my daughter exclusively for the first 2 months. Due to a car accident I lost my milk production. And she won't latch now and is on formula but they Told me to hand express Milk so that my body thinks she's breast feeding still to continue to get a supply in to try with her. And if for some reason you can't girl formula is made so close to breast milk. My pediatrician made me feel so relieved in knowing that and I was told as long as she is eating and gaining weight it doesn't matter if shes breast or formula fed.
@prettyflower1033, congratulations! I hope everything works out. Everyone made me feel like I was starving my son breast feeding and the depression got to me really bad so I supplemented and then just ended up formula feeding. Next baby I’m gonna try harder tho. Hopefully you get your answers Wednesday and breast feeding gets easier for you but fed is best so either way you’re taking care of your sweet baby.
@sherilynne23 I will ask on my next appointment but wich formula did you stick to?
@jack.ass appointment on Wednesday had her Monday. Some say it might be too late then
@prettyflower1033 that's how I was with my oldest. All three of mine went straight to formula. There's nothing wrong with that. They are all well fed and healthy little people. I understand it sucks when you really want to be able to breastfeed but you're not failing her. Some women's bodies just don't cooperate. And it can be different with every baby. A friend of mine couldn't breastfeed her first two, but her third she produced so much milk, she was donating half of it. You're not failing her! Fed is best. As long as your feeding her and loving her and squeezing her and kissing on her, you're doing just fine!!
@taymw11 oh yeah need to remove that. Don't know how yet lol.. Yes had her on monday.
@taymw11 I will keep on trying. I have an appointment set up but it isn't til Wednesday
I didn’t know you had her already it showed you were still pregnant I’m sorry
I mean I’m not judging. I tried to breast feed and things didn’t go the way I wanted so he’s formula fed now. He’s doing fine. Everything will be okay💞
@sherilynne23 she wasn't latching since day one and I'm not producing enough milk..
@ivegot10 I'm just getting a lot less than expected every time I pump so I'm hoping for great results. I appreciate your advice.
