Tomorrow my son has been in nicu for 2 weeks. I hate it nurses leave him in dirty diapers and make excuses to why it’s not changed, they keep wasting my breast milk. Pisses me off. I asked to not have a few nurses and I have one of them today I’m tired of this

I had the same issue with my baby girl, she had the worst diaper rash from the nicu that literally took prescription meds to make better.

Go talk to the charge nurse or the patient advocate at the hospital. You're never going to feel okay with the situation if you don't trust the nurses that are seeing your son. I had to go up the chain to make sure a nurse wasn't assigned to son while in the NICU because I came in at one of his care times and he was laying in a pool of vomit, and she wasn't even seen for another 45 minutes after that. I was livid. She walked in like no big deal, I told her "yeah, he was laying in his own vomit, no idea how long, and now he's screaming for food." She brushed me off, saying "oh, poor little guy, I was busy with another baby." Well then, you should have asked another nurse to help you or at least check on him visually to make sure he was okay. She wasn't assigned to my son after that, I made sure of it. Make a fuss. You are your child's advocate. I'm a very calm, easy to get along with person, but I will be as loud as necessary when it comes to my son. For some reason, it's easier for me to be assertive when it comes to him or my daughter than it is to speak up for myself.

36 weeks tomorrow was born at 34 wks. They r warming up full amount before breast feeding. Then I’ll breast feed him he will take 22 ml of the 46 ml or more and they just dump down sink till right amount for tube through nose feeding. Pisses me off. The milk they have is milk before put on ppd meds. Waiting it kills me. So I’m still pumping but I’m putting in my chest freezer at home. They think because they have several days worth they can just waist it. I hate them. I’m pumping 8-10 times a day. I made lactation cookies. I’m not yet making 1000 ml like I’m supposed to and the meds they put me on can effect milk production. And when the nurses see he has a dirty diaper before clogging him after feeding unless I do it or bitch they won’t change him. Like I get not knowing between feedings sometimes when he’s clothed but if u see it I know how swift they can change diapers. Shoot I’ve only been a mom 13 days and I was able to change him today in a difficult outfit with out waking him up. Lame excuses. And they are not under staffed they have helper people that can do stuff. My poor baby has been fighting a diaper rash for over a week because of their neglect. Then they told me since I have huge issues with anxiety and social situations like hospital everyday that if I have them the few nurses names that really made me have anxiety they would not assign them to my son. So I told them yesterday of 2 nurses and today I got one of them. I’m tired of them lying to my face. There’s only 3 nurses total of all of them because they neglected my baby or insulted my sons grandparents. So im not being unreasonable. I don’t feel safe with my son in the nicu. I’m afraid to leave him.

How old is your baby and what gestation was baby born at?

How are they wasting milk?

Are they not changing him during care times? It’s best to disturb baby as little as possible which is why they have set care times.

If you have nurses that you don’t want for valid reasons, go speak with the charge nurse. They should remove them from your care team.
