Saw this video this morning, can’t be disappointed because I know better. But truly am sick of it. From MA to FL to LA. This poor girl, stay strong beauty. I remember a while ago there was a post on some women rocking cornrows and cultural appropriation. One user pointed out that for black women the uproar is because we are ridiculed, banned from jobs and mistreated when we wear our hair in these styles. That’s the big deal. Understanding is key.
@queenmeeks, true that. People don’t understand why parents put little girls in black and proud shirts. Cuz you’re still tryna tell our babies that the way they were created Is Not Good Enough.
On the strength , let them even look at her fro sideways and I’m rolling through right with you!
@empress9106 absolutely ridiculous but it’s no longer shocking. I wish on every star in the sky that a school would inform myself and my child that her beautiful, curly fro was unnatural. Issa fight fam.
@queenmeeks, Exactly. 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽 In the actual video the girl was in tears and so was I as I watched. What an attack on her identity. In Florida this week a first grader was kicked out for locs because the “ handbook said no hair past the ear for boys”. However on the school’s website a bit has a bob!
Of course they wouldn’t for those hairstyles. It’s got to end.
This makes me upset. I’m tired of our babies being treated this way over something as simple as hair! We have been wearing braids for decades and there is nothing unnatural about them. Would a girl be expelled for wearing her hair in French or Dutch braids?! Doubtful. This discriminatory BS needs to end IMMEDIATELY.
