Y’all my doctor said they are done with ultrasounds! That seems weird to me I see so many moms getting at least one more during the third trimester I mean how do they know if baby is head down? Guess I’m going to have to do a 3D with self pay🤷🏽♀️ I’ve only gotten 2 from my doctor and I have Medicaid.
It’s actually unfortunately pretty normal. They tell that the head is down by down internal exams and feeling the head through your cervix lol. I am definitely with you, we have the technology why not look at the baby? That’s not how insurance sees it. You can always go to private ultrasound centers - I think they range around $100
my doctor gave me 1 more at 32w and he told me i wasn't gonna get another one. i had sooner care choice which i think is like medicaid.. they can feel around on your belly to see if baby is head down too btw.

I didnt get another in my third trimester, just the one at 8 weeks to confirm and then the 2 one at like 20 weeks. The OB was able to feel when the baby was head down, she actually checked like every visit towards the end even after the first time she felt and confirmed.
@mommynmotion I went to the same thing so I have had my last anatomy scan ultrasound at 20 weeks then at the beginning of my first trimester then that was it. So at 30 Weeks I paid for a 3D ultrasound at One of those ultrasounds places still don't know her size til this day and no ultrasounds at the clinic lol but the doctor felt my belly and told she was head down at my 36 weeks appointment .
If you have regular Medicaid and not high risk in Alabama they will only do two I'm from Alabama
I didn't get one in my 3rd trimester. Accept for a 3d I paid for. But my dr only did the initial one and the 20 week scan.

@mommynmotion I get an ultrasound every time I go to my Dr they said all the way up till I deliver my son thank God idk what to do if I had to wait that's scary not knowing what's going on inside with baby I thank God for my Dr office 👏👐☝
Both my friends only received 2. Typically they choose what your insurance will cover. My insurance covers 3 (initial check, anatomy scan, and growth scan) so I received a 3rd.
@mommynmotion would make the most sense, they are typically smart in knowing how to avoid hidden costs to you later. But you can go to a private place and check the cost...it will be cheaper than going through your OB and insurance not covering but the price can still range quite a bit depending on where you go.
Yep, I only had 3. One at 8 weeks, 11, and 20. They said no more so I scheduled the 4D for Thursday! I have to see her again
That’s so weird . I have had like 5 or 6 ultrasounds . I am getting my 3D one done in September .
With my son I had maybe 3 my whole pregnancy. One at 6, 20, and 32 weeks. With my last two since being high risk I get one every visit. Private ultrasounds can range from $50-$100, but they are always an option if your doctor won’t do anymore. That’s what we ended up doing in the past.
My doctor stops at 20 weeks and doesn’t do another until 35 weeks.
@mommynmotion I did it at a boutique. It was $69 for 20 minutes and pictures.
