Dr. just messaged me and said that I tested positive for Group B Strep! Does anyone have any experience with this? I have no clue what this is and have never heard of it before.
@glencoco, I’m nervous now. Bc even though I have a csection scheduled for 9-4 I’m already 2cm dilated and have been having a lot of contractions. So I may very well have her before the csection!!
Contrary to most comments if you do your research it actually is a big deal. Not getting the antibiotics is harmful to the baby and could kill them. If a baby gets group b it could cause pneumonia, meningitis, or sepsis. Just be sure to go to the hospital if you start to go into labor.
Yup I didn't have it with my first but had it third tone around all they do is run antibiotic thru ur I.V while ur in labour

I had it with both my kids. Its just a bacteria and doesnt harm you at all. You will have to take meds while in labor for it so it doesnt harm the baby. Its really nothing serious and you can still do yur planned birth plan
With my daughter I never even got to test because I had her the day of my appointment. They just gave me meds to be safe thru the IV they had me on anyway
I am a RN it's not a big deal they will probably start you on some oral meds and when you go into labor you need to go into the hospital right away so they can give you more meds thru a IV before you have the baby
It’s natural to get it. It’s no big deal. You’ll need antibiotics when you deliver because it’s safe for us but not for baby. They will give you an antibiotic to keep baby safe
