UGH
@2sweetie, I went today and she lost 12 ounces and she’s only 3 days old 😭😭😭
Some pain in the beginning is normal but you’ll want to see a lactation consultant to make sure she’s latching correctly. Has your milk come in yet? If not then that’s why she wants to keep nursing. She’s telling your body to make milk. Just keep going and trust your body. You can see the pediatrician for weight checks to make sure she’s gaining.
Do you have nipple shields or a breastpump, that will get you through the night, my son didn't latch, so I exclusively pumped
I wasn’t aware of this, but my son couldn’t latch on because I had inverted nipples and in order to get him to latch, I had to mess with my nipples so he could latch properly. I wasn’t told any of that at first. By day 3 of my son being born, we had to switch him to formula because I wasn’t producing enough milk to pump either way. It may not be the way you pictured it, but sometimes you have to give in to bottles/formula to feed your baby. Now I’m not saying to give up, just have an open mind
I had that problem with my son. He had a really shallow latch and my nipples were cracked and bleeding pretty bad. I used lanolin cream and used a nipple shield since putting breastmilk on them and air drying was too painful. It gets better.
Not everyone is meant for breastfeeding momma don’t feel bad it hurts so bad I tried all 3 times with my kids & none of the times worked out for me !! Don’t feel bad try applying nipple cream & if it does work out for you that’s amazing but if not don’t feel like your not a good mom or etc ... your doing great rn by not giving up 💕
Well it’s normal to lose weight after birth. My daughter lost 9 oz during the 3 days we were at the hospital. No one seemed concerned at all. My milk was in by day 3 and she started gaining weight back.
Is your milk in yet? Do you hear her swallowing?
