I know your not suppose to lay on your back during pregnancy but what if ur not laying flat? I have pillows I prop up on and sometimes that’s the only way I can sleep. I don’t wanna harm my baby in any way!!!

@rockyrrt, because it can limit blow flow to your baby.

@rockyrrt, that’s what I was always told too! I sleep on my left side mostly but sometimes I start hurting because of my hip or something and I can get more comfortable propped up on pillows and fall asleep and stay asleep longer.

@heather3427 I always ended up on my back even if I was on my side when I fell asleep.

I asked my OB and she said as long as your head is elevated, you’re fine. (At least 2 pillows) also if you start feeling uncomfortable then move

I used to be a belly sleeper and since that stopped I try to always fall asleep on my side with lots of pillows and then always wake up on my back. I also can sleep somewhat on my belly propped sideways with pillows.

Lay however is comfortable to you. You will KNOW if laying on your back cuts off blow flow because you will feel it. When I was farther along I couldn't breath when I was on my back. And if your comfortable on your stomach then lay that way. I did until I was about 6 months but at the end I had no choice besides my sides lol

As long as you’re comfortable and elevated enough it’s fine. The ONLY way I could sleep when I was pregnant with my son was on my back. I would even end up on my back despite falling asleep on either of my sides. I talked to my OB and she said as long as I’m elevated enough (and my heart doesn’t start to race) that it’s fine. I basically slept in a reclined position. Not quite sitting up but definitely not lying flat. It was the only way I could sleep. 😅 Especially towards the end when I got reflux so bad it would make me vomit.
