My MIL is planning on staying in the hospital the entire time I’m in labor. I don’t want that. Any tips on how to deal with this? Why can’t my MIL understand that labor is private for us😩 And when the baby is here she’s never going to leave us or the baby alone. She’s really testing my patience😡

When my son was born there was issues between both families. Right after I gave birth and they switched me to the room I was going to stay with, My mom and sister started giving me hell as if I wasn’t exhausted and were ruining the happy moment. With this one now I told my husband it’s only going to be just us two in the delivery room. And let my family know that to save the bullshit, It will only be us two 🤷🏻‍♀️. Told my husband to let his family know. Everyone can see the baby once I’m settled in the room.

Ughh I completely understand my MIL was/is super upset that I refused to find out the gender of my baby until my baby is born she has even stated that she’s coming to my next doctors appointment so she can find out herself.. starting to not like her is that wrong to say also when my baby is born she going to take a leave of absent from work ughhh feel like pulling my hair out with her

My MIL did this even after I told her I didn’t want her in the delivery room. She then had the nerve to tell me that I pushed my daughter out wrong. Lol my best advice would be to put your foot down no matter how she feels about it. Your husband should be backing u up. If not tell the nurses you don’t want anyone in the room but the father.

Wasnt a major issue with mil. But fil. I put my foot down. I tokd everyone absolutly not. No one was to be there while I was in labor. I only had a 24 hr stay so I told everyone they couldnt visit for 24 hrs and then suprise I was home!

I haven't as read all the comments to see if anyone said it already but my dr told me in advance if there was anyone I didnt want in the room or if at any point I didnt want someone in the room to let the nurse know and they would be the bad guys and either keep people out or tell someone they had to leave. He told me most hospitals he knows will do that.

With my 1st, I allowed my mom to be in the room and we kept everyone updated (family, friends and social media) until things didn't turned so good and baby end up passing. Not only I have to deal with the awkwardness in the room and everyone's unnecesary opinions but also with unwanted visitors at that time of grief. It was a horrible experience and I still have PTSD about it. Lesson learned ✔ and this time around we're not even letting people know until I'm home. Already had arguments about it and my husband doesn't agree but oh well... 🤷🏽‍♀️

I didn't let my MIL in the delivery room because I knew she would of drove me crazy and trying to tell me what to do. This is your precious time and your husband should stand up and let her know.

Oh man i totally get this! Honestly id just tell her if she wouldnt mind spreading wide eagle and possibly pooping on the bed in front of you then sure she can stay in room. 😂

My husband and I didn’t want anyone in the room except each other and the midwives/doctor.

We didn’t tell anyone we had the baby until the next morning.

In the end, it’s your family and a very intimate time. People will just have to understand. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@babybump21 I would definitely talk to your ob and front desk try to call or preferably go up there and discuss it ahead of time they should be taking birthing notes at your request like the birth plan

jordanrwilliams25

@babybump21 sorry i was referring to the mil lol

@jordanrwilliams25, my mom isn’t clingy, she understands these kinds of situations and that it’s supposed to be private. But my bfs mom on the other hand probably already has an overnight bag packed!!! She’s not going to leave the hospital the moment I go into labor until we get discharged if I don’t do anything about it

jordanrwilliams25

Jordan Rachelle

@babybump21 that would work perfect

jordanrwilliams25

Jordan Rachelle

@babybump21 if she's clingy she might just say she understands lol and she'll have an overnight bag in the car or a big purse attached to her hip lol

My mother in law passed last September it's the rest of his family I'm worried about and don't have much patience for

@jordanrwilliams25, I just want my bf there. And I want my mom there too but I don’t want her to stay long, which she understands!!

@jordanrwilliams25, that’s a good idea!! My hospital already only allows 2 visitors while your in labor so I can ask if they can set a time limit to anyone that isn’t my bf.

jordanrwilliams25

Jordan Rachelle

And my brother most likely not want to come until after lol

jordanrwilliams25

I don't want anyone at mine except her dad my mom and my brother

jordanrwilliams25

All of what they said and I would inform your ob and the front desk that you either don't want people there and don't want to seem mean or to see if they can put a time limit on visiting to make you feel comfortable

@optimusprimesmom, I’m honestly thinking about doing that. I really don’t want anyone there while I’m in labor. And my friends are talking about coming to visit me while I’m in labor too. Even if I ban people from coming to my room, I’m still going to have a billion messages from everyone asking if the baby is here yet. Maybe it’s best not to tell anyone until he is here !!

We didn't notify anyone with our first until the morning after he was born to keep people from bugging us. Have the birth you want to have. She doesn't get to tell you who is going to be there.

@mommytoaprinceandaprincess, I get along with my MIL but she’s just so clingy and very stubborn. She’s just not the type of person I want around during labor. I appreciate that she’s so excited but she doesn’t understand boundaries!

@expectinggreatness, I love that article!! Thanks for sharing! Especially the line “what is a medical procedure, not a pretty social situation.” I’m going to explain it to her that way. I’m just not comfortable having anyone see me in that situation besides my partner. It’s not her child so she’s going to have to deal with it!🤷‍♀️

Turn off your phones or turn it on silent but I’m going to have my mil and my mom and fiancé in the room but I get along with my mil but she lives 4 hours away

@babybump21, have your husband talk to her. That’s what I did cause I wasn’t having it either.

@mommytoaprinceandaprincess, I don’t want to see her at all when I go into labor. I think I’ll do that though, my hospital only allows 2 visitors in the room anyway. I know she’s going to be in the waiting room the entire time, and call us nonstop for updates. She won’t be happy about it but I don’t care 🤷‍♀️

Do you want her before labor? because if not you could always tell her when you get to the hospital and get checked in that y’all not going to have anybody else in the room

babybump21

Emily

В ожидании первенца

@mommytoaprinceandaprincess, yeah I’m going to. She wants me to call her as soon as I go into labor but I’m not going to do that either. She would just end up rushing right to the hospital as soon as she got the call. I get that she’s excited but it’s not your child, give us some space 😩

All you have to do is tell the nurses and they will make her leave

@bigmama18, im gonna have to, she’s going to get mad and very offended but at this point i don’t care. I don’t want to see her when I’m in labor!

bigmama18

Yo mama

Be honest and tell her she’s not welcome the whole time. If she try’s not to leave the nurses will make her.
