Mamas that have boys and had them circumcised.. I’d like to hear your experience.. like where you in the room with them ? How was the healing process ? Did they numb the baby? TIA
My boys are. They took them away and brought them back like 30 mins later. 1 was wide awake. The other came back sleeping. I believe they numb the area. The healing process took like a week. Wasn’t bad.
My son was circumcised at 2 days old. Took like 30min he didn’t even cry and he healed really fast. Having a boy this time and going to have him circumcised.
My husband was circumcised as a baby also, but his brother wasn’t and ended up getting circumcised at 12yrs old he said it was super painful
@futuremomma248, lol I totally understand the awkwardness .. I was going to ask my mother in law since hubby is cut but he said that would be weird and he rather not .. thankfully I have sisters that kept their boys intact so I have their say I just didn’t have anyone that has done it to shed some light .. but I will definitely keep researching.. thanks hun☺️
@jenn13, well that's good that you are doing research, that means you want to do what's best. I suggest you also check out your whole baby community group on Facebook over 28,000 moms who have intact sons they can also give their experiences on raising intact boys. I know I especially love talking to the moms with older boys. I mean it's kind of awkward talking to my mother-in-law about my husband's penis. So I definitely enjoy talking to other older moms
@futuremomma248, thank you hun .. we have been doing research since 16 weeks that we found out it was a boy .. i wanted to hear moms that have actual experience with doing it and not just what I was reading online .. i have seen plenty videos and it’s always 50/50 .. trust me we have read and read and watched plenty of videos ..
I have seen circumcision during Clinicals, and I can tell you a lot of the time the pain meds don't work. The baby scream and cry and it was terrible to watch. My husband is intact so it was even more triggering to think this could've been my husband. My son is also intact due to my medical training and my husband. You are the mother, I suggest you do a lot of research. Don't just talk to mothers on apps. But actually watch videos for yourself, talk to men from other countries fully research it. Because remember once you remove something you cannot put it back
I was not in the room with him, it took about 5-7 minutes and he was back with me. He acted as if nothing had happened and was normal self. Healing process was smooth.. just made sure to keep Vaseline on it with every change and make sure it was clean.
@its.a.bird, @jerseymomx2, a lot of doctors today are super unaware of how to care for an intact penis . My friends son is intact and at one of his appointments he tried to retract him and she flipped . Most doctors will tell you to retract but this isn’t recommended. It can be painful and just isn’t necessary. The foreskin of the penis defuses itself when your child is around 7 years old and from there you retract to clean . And a bath wouldn’t give a uti . That’s like telling us we can’t take baths . Clean off the area we clean water and it’s fine . But early retraction can definitely cause issues with puberty
@jerseymomx2, yeah it’s so confusing because my son is uncircumcised as well and I even made him an appt with a ped urologist and they said u want to pull it back a little so it don’t get to tight , if it gets to tight it can “balloon up” and get infected , so many different opinions on to do it or not ..
The American Academy of Pediatrics has been recommending not to retract foreskin since 1984. I wish more doctors would educate themselves on how to care for uncircumcised boys since a growing number of boys are not being circumcised.
I wasn't in the room They give them sugar water drops before and after babies had no problem and healed well with my youngest they showed me how to Vaseline the diaper down instead of applying it to his lil p and I like that better than the gauze they used for my oldest two cause it dries out to quick and I'm getting this baby circumcised as well my boys didn't cry of pain or nothing was so smooth
@its.a.bird, You’re right. You’re not supposed to push back the foreskin to clean because that can actually cause damage. The foreskin can often be fused to the penis and will eventually retract on its own. Forcibly retracting it is not recommended. I’ve also never heard of not allowing your child to take baths because of an uncircumcised penis. That’s untrue & sadly many doctors aren’t knowledgeable on how to care/clean in tact boys.
I had my son circumcised at birth, we didn't go with him . They had to wait to do it two days after he was born and did it after his first "wipe down bath" he was extremely cranky after and we had to put ointment and gauze on it after we came home for about 14 days. We put ointment on the gauze then on his area and seal up the diaper at every diaper change. We has to make sure it was clean all the time It was hard seeing him in pain in the beginning as well the after care is alot but after the healing process was over we were so happy and have no regrets .
My son from a previous marriage is circumcised. I hated it, I cried because he did and I was in another room. Idk if he cried because he was separated from me or because it hurt. It looked awful afterwards but didn’t seem to bother him and I kept tons of ointment on it so it wouldn’t stick to the diaper. I chose to circumcise him because his uncle was 35 and got an infection and had to have the procedure done as an adult. Figured I’d avoid all that for him later, in case.
My husband now isn’t circumcised and said If we ever have a son he will not be circumcised. Ok. I don’t have a penis so idk what’s better. Lol
I’m having a boy and I told my husband it was his choice whether to have it done or not. This is my first boy as I have had 2 girls. This is his 2nd boy and the first is circumcised,.
I just recently did this. Still in the healing phase. I took him to a pediatric surgeon. He was injected with numbing medicine at the base and was awake the whole time, it took 45 minutes from when they took him and brought him back. They gave me some ointment to put on him every time I changed his diaper for two days. I couldn’t give him a bath for 2 days as well. Lastly, he was pretty cranky the rest of day and half of day 2. Around 5/6 days post circumcision his stitches started falling out.
@briannalynn547, true! I totally didn’t think of it that way .. i just want to make sure we make a decision that we both are 100% sure about since baby boy will be here in the next 6 weeks .. thanks mama ☺️
@its.a.bird, I never really thought about it until I found out i was having a boy.. it’s just nice to hear people’s experience vs reading on google lol ..
@jenn13, people say that to scare you when there anti-circ. If it was a huge deal it wouldn’t be allowed to be done ! Yeah your baby might be different and cry, but it won’t be because he felt it ! He might be in pain after (my son showed no signs of pain) but like someone above said , infant Tylenol as needed !
@briannalynn547, okay thank you ! I’m glad to hear that they numb them since some people say they don’t I was scared .. I’d hate to put him in that kind of pain ..
@its.a.bird, I hate that ! Like I would never judge a mom for not circumcising . Some people will just find anything to complain about . I was bashed because I stopped breast feeding my son once lol
I was in the room. Literally was just staring at me holding my finger the whole time . Didn’t even cry. Was just looking at the lights and me . (He loves lights ) and the healing took about a week if that but I still applies cream longer just to be safe . Yes they numbed . Some babies do cry though, cause they’re cold and stuff but they don’t feel it .
My hubby went with him. They did numb it. Healed in about a week never had any issues with it. He was in pain for like 2 days but a little Tylenol and he was fine.
My son had his done the day after his birth. They say they don’t feel anything down there for awhile so it doesn’t hurt the baby .. changing him was heartbreaking for me because t just looks like it hurts but the healing process is quick! I wasn’t there when his was done didn’t want to be.
My boys are. They took them away and brought them back like 30 mins later. 1 was wide awake. The other came back sleeping. I believe they numb the area. The healing process took like a week. Wasn’t bad.
