Is it strange my OB never mentioned tdap / dtap vaccine to me?
One of my friends that’s going to same OB said he gave it to her during both Singleton pregnancies. Is it a twin thing maybe or did he just forget? It’s probably too late for me now since I’m only a few days from delivery ...not sure I would have taken it either but wondering if you twin moms had this happen
I did more research on it... cdc only changed Recomendation a few years ago to “dtap every pregnancy “ , before it was only recomended during pregnancy for high risk populations or for moms that never had it previously.... hard to know who to trust , especially since fda and cdc are so biased nowadays . Even if I was offered it I would have done my research and I think I would have concluded not to take it during pregnancy.....I’m looking more and more stuff up in medical publications on pubmed now rather than cdc .
It’s definitely too late for me now ... in less then 7 days I’ll be holding my munchkins! Plus the last thing I want right now is to get sick from a vaccine right before the delivery. I will make sure to give them that one on time which I was planning on anyways. They get the first dtap at 2 months. I live in south Florida so our winter ❄️ is not really winter .... hoping that helps with the whooping cough rates. I looked it up and looks like Colorado and California have the highest rates. We do have plenty of anti-vaxers here , but probably not as many as in those two states
The tdap is supposed to be recommended and given at 28 weeks of pregnancy.. I've been offered it every pregnancy at 28 weeks and I've recieved them that same day.. maybe he did forget.. sometimes they get too caught up in other stuff and forget.. it should be given at least 4 weeks before birth as it can lay in your throat asymptomatic for that long.. and it takes a few weeks to transfer the antibodies to baby..
I’ll be 37 tomorrow and delivering next Wednesday at 38! My doctor is on vacation this week... I checked with two of my cousins that said they didn’t get tdap during pregnancy. Just thought it was weird that my OB gave it to my friend but didn’t even mention it to me. It takes 2 weeks to start building immunity so it’s too late for me now I think... wondering if anyone else skipped it . Im thinking if I call office and talk to nurses they won’t give me correct info so I’ll just go with it. No one is touching babies for first few weeks anyways. I literally want to put “look but don’t touch” stickers on them. I was planning on going slow with vaccines on babies too
I’m definitely pro vaccines, especially for certain diseases but I’ll be taking it slow with my munchkins... will check out that Youtube . Thanks!
